Ashley Klein gambling Problems

Funny that it comes out the same day that a coach and club gets a 40k fine for saying players names. Integrity my ass.
There are no coincidences when it comes to the nrl news cycle. The only one they were caught out on was when it was leaked that abdo was off to tennis australia, but even then they managed to control the narrative.

I feel for anyone who has a gambling problem, it can strike anyone no matter who they are and like any addiction it controls your life and destroys everything around you. My grandfather lost the family house in Bellevue Hill on one bet many years ago.

Anyway in saying the above how can any organisation that has heavy links to the gambling industry have a referee with a well known gambling problem. This is absolutely astounding the NRL has put this under the carpet.Every call that Klein has made is now under scrutiny. Of course the NRL can say what they like but there is now a massive cloud of doubt.

The old story…nothing ever surprises me when it comes to the integrity of the NRL
I can't stand Vlandys, he's a huge step down in my respect for the game.

Where is the reply from the NRL. This is massive, probably the biggest hit the NRL has taken since super league and all we have got is crickets. Surely the NRL have got their spin doctors on the JOB. I just can’t believe this has not gone off like a bomb and dominated the news cycle
Mate they knew about it in 2019.
They probably leaked it themselves to avoid the focus on mal.

Attending BetStop is just a cover so he can claim to have received professional help and is alright now. The half million or so gambling loss, if just on the horses and dogs, is between Klein and his wife, but regardless of what he was betting on, the bigger problem would be the deal he made with the bookies to clear his debt. "Tigers to beat Penrith?. No problem, leave it with me". It won't happen, but I'd be checking Butler's betting activities as well, because many contentious calls become evident when those two operate in tandem.

“The NRL first became aware of this matter in 2019, at which time it was investigated to the satisfaction of NRL management at the time,” an NRL spokesperson said.

“The NRL subsequently took appropriate steps to ensure there were no breaches of NRL rules and policies. At no stage has Ashley Klein’s position as an NRL match official been impacted. The NRL takes proactive steps as a matter of course to provide education relating to rules and policy. Given this is an employment matter it would not be appropriate to comment further.”
Thats it.
Weak as ....

I made a post a few months ago about how all sports, not just the NRL, are controlled by betting agencies and games are possibly rigged.

As media consumption changes from TV to on-demand and social media, the major networks are scrambling and pushing gambling to maintain profits, no matter who wins or loses.

This stuff has been so normalised in our country. $37 billion lost by Australians last year.

There should have been a stronger response at the time and it calls into question the integrity of every game he refereed.

I guess to his credit he has rehabilitated himself.

Questions should be asked by the club regarding his position as the video ref for Sunday’s game. He certainly shouldn’t be there, if there’s any controversial decisions (which always seems to be the case when his involved with a tigers game) the game stakeholders can’t guarantee that the decision isn’t influence by outside forces.
Also, he played a major role in the bunker on that fateful afternoon in north qld when they took a win from us after the full time whistle.
