Ashley Klein gambling Problems

Why on earth would people be expecting PVL to see this as an issue. Its par for the course in his industry, which totally lacks morals and integrity. Plus the revenue gambling brings in to the game, last thing he would want to be doing is upsetting the gambling lobby.
equivalent would be stewards betting in racing does not happen..
Integrity is the one thing racing does have, without it nobody would gamble on them

Rugby League on the other hand is not made from gambling, it is a sport that has gambling around it.
The ref's are like the racing stewards, they should never be betting ever.

The NRL will say nothing and do nothing. The minute they try and defend themselves they will be rightfully so mauled by most of the media. Of course the media outlets who are in bed with them will remain silent. Also as others have said, the NRL are parasites that live off the gambling industry and the misery it causes

Racing itself may have integrity, but the gambling companies they are intertwined with don't. PVL is very, very chummy with these companies, likewise the NRL media (which is why you have not heard much about it). Journos wouldnt want to risk their all expenses paid Melbourne Cup experience would they?

the media ban on gambling advertising should help and should have happened a long time ago
like cigarette advertising being banned gambling advertising being banned this should have happened a long time ago

my take is if you.still want a bet then you.can get to the tab or other agencies online, advertising shouldn't be a thing.

The only thing I’m seeing is the NRL and broadcasters saying all good nothing happened we investigated it or hope Klein is ok.
The NRL can’t oversee the salary cap how can they delve into the shady areas of gambling or ‘influence’ on those who are in debt
🧹🧹🧹

I heard the start of one SEN program on radio this morning....eventually touched on Klein....the main angle was - they were disgusted his personal problems are being discussed publicly

Foxsports website...a roundabout bit at the bottom of an article on Mitch Moses....Blues players support Ash Klein

Of course nothing on nrl.com

I think you have made two very good points arguing against point one. However yes the rules around involvement with betting companies is black and white his involvement as a customer is not against those black and white rules. Should it be? Yeah, for a whole list of reasons including those you bring up, but it is not. Would I be fine if they tightened up those rules and ultimately dismissed him? Yes. But again he has not breached the current rules. However I don't believe they can dismiss him without tightening up the rules and even then I'm not sure they could as he is reportedly no longer breaching them. The only possible breach as it stands is a catch all of bringing the game into disrepute but in my experience contracts don't have such wide, vague statements.

I don't believe you have addressed point 2. There is no evidence of his integrity as a referee being breached.
I know you are in those circles so I understand why you take the position you do, but I cant get on board. Its hard to believe that AK hasnt been compromised in some shape or form, whether its proven (yet) or not.

We only need to reflect back on some of the games he has adjudicated for the unexplainable to become explainable. State of origin 2025 game 2. Make it make sense. If we had the knowledge we do now at the time, the headlines the next day are calling for an investigation.

As Alfie Langer once said, he doesnt punt, but his sister doesnt mind having a crack.

So, what's the point in supporting the game anymore if he is allowed to continue? Are any others in the same boat?
I've had the discussion many times with friends that are supporters of various teams. Since the Cowboys Feldt milking fiasco that had Kleins stamp all over it, Ive pretty much not taken the sport too seriously, and no longer get too excited about results. In my view, this is no longer a genuine competition, its theatre that you can bet on. Too many random variables controlled by refs and NRL management bods.
