Ashyford & Lawrence

Do we have anyone better to replace them. Lawrence and Ashyford both had poor years last year, but hopefully will perform better in Potters system, especially defensively. BTW, the season has started yet, so i think you are jumping the gun!

Forget our forward worries for the moment and consider our centre pairing which has been quite pedestrian since at least the latter pair of last season. Unfortunatley the truth in this game is that no matter how well you have performed in earlier seasons you are only as good as your last few games. Lote knows this and so do former WT institutions like Hetherington and Ryan. There are always young talented ambitious players barking at your heels and you can't afford to drop a notch. Potter, if he is on the ball, will next week introduce into first grade one or two new debutants.

Let's give them 6 weeks with a new coach to prove their worth.

We need Stability not musical chairs.

Both have ability but need to show it.

Both are coming off very poor seasons.

Tim Simona and Rory Brien could come into calculations if changes need to be made

My one hope this year that Potter plays everyone in their right position and if injured or out of form replaces them with someone in State Cup or Under 20's who plays that position.

both must be put on notice. It isnt what it used to be. Am i jumping the gun?

not on lawrence… unfortunately i think he's done... needs some nsw cup to get his game back in order..
but ayshford needs a bit more time in FG. with good service and solid winger outside him i think he is wortwhile persisting with.

Six weeks in first grade is a long time to give players who are out of form or injured. By that time WT could well further down the gurgler. It is ironic that Sheens was shown the door mainly for the reasons that he failed to blood new players and perserved with out of form established players by rotatinge their positions in first grade.

I wonder what sort of effect the constant changes in halves last year had on the quality of ball given to our centres.

I agree both need to pull their finger out and need to be told.
Lawrence doesn't see the ball enough, I'm sick of seeing him taking dummy half scoots to gain 4m and gets dominated in the tackle its such a waste.
Hopefully Benji can get him running into holes this year and put some on his chest. Ashford just looks like he's idling most of the time I wish he'd show more enthusiasm, mongrel, urgency. He's too laid back for me.

A couple of years ago Ashford was easily on the rise as being on of the best centres in the game Lawrence already was. Lawrence did cop a brutal injury, which must play on his confidence levels. Still makes me gag when i think of how that would felt. This year, I think the whole 17 would be on notice. Lets face it, Potter has had no say in his squad, apart from who plays where. I dare say recruitment would be on his mind a lot. And replacing Sheen's players with players for Potters team is high on the agenda over the coming 1 to 2 years. I dare say a lot of the players you see this year, may not be a regular as next year. it comes with any changing of the guard.

Personally i think its a good thing. Comfortable in your employment can make you under perform. Knowing your boss is watching you, and there young whipper snappers who want your job can only be a good thing for the team as a whole.

its just getting stale. its the run of the mill football. There's nothing to get excited about with these two. No brilliance. Few years ago i was rating Lawrence on par with Gary Jack - but as the years pass Gary Jack surpasses Chris Lawrence. - for Lawrence there is time to find his mojo but at the moment he is just a passenger. On the same token one would be able to argue that Blake Ayshford will never reach Chris Lawrence heights. Lawrence burst onto the scene. Damn those raiders!

I think it's almost a watershed year for both of them. They both have great potential but haven't reached it yet.

Both players are not in great form. Lawrence is a class player and deserves more time. I think Ayshfords the biggest worry.

The good news is we have a few outside backs in NSW Cup (Brien Simona Nofoaluma) all ready for a crack. Hopefully Teqele Naiyaravoro can improve his defence and demand a spot later this season.

Lawrence's injury has stuffed him. I can't think of any reason why Ayshford floundered last yr but there is a reason why Lawrence did. There is a logical reason as to why Lawrence has been playing the way he has yet nobody acknowledges it

When our forwards aren't bashing holes in the defense the centres and backs are always going to struggle. Chris and Blake can't do their stuff without strength up front - we could be in trouble!

I think Juro is spot on, I hate seeing Lawrence running the ball from dummy half. The other thing is so many halfs & no combination make it hard for Lawrence & Ayshford.

I agree, Lawrence is unfortunately finished, i guess the reason why there giving him extra time is that he was molded to be the future face of west tigers, but that hip injury ruined his career and noe everybody is being delusional that he will hit form.
