Asu Kepaoa #236

AJ needs to work on sticking the tackle when he shoots. His reads have been good, but he slips off the ball handler too easily. Gagai made him pay a few times last week and got easy meters from it.
Hoping next year with an injury free off season he can work on a select few areas of his game an become a really strong first grade centre

I disagree. He looks like a first grader right now. He won't be a top tier player but he can do the job at this level.
Yep, he's another who is at WT standard. Right now I doubt whether he would make a top side. He is improving and that's all we can ask for at this stage. We need two quality forwards and a strike back, then I'll be excited.

Watch some replays he only gets involved in tackle as 2nd or 3rd man in
And he rushes up out of the line and gets left sprawling . This year his hands have improved a bit but not his tackling

He does needs some work on his defense. It's not terrible though. If you want to see terrible watch Doueihi.

He had some shockers early in his career, but has improved a lot this season.

Good to see he has re-signed. He may not be a superstar but will get us through the next few years.

This guys had wraps for years, coming through....

He had a rough start to first grade and has been injured for the most part from there on out.

Time to live up to potential and re pay the club for sticking by you and investing you.

Looked decent the past few weeks, hopefully another gear he can reach and really fill a hole we've been needing to fill for a very long time - centre.

Onward and upwards AJ.
Show us what you're worth!

Look, he should be here for depth only. He has been better, but he needs to improve out of sight to be 1st grade level IMO

I think he will get there. He has had a pretty interrupted career thus far with injury and playing out of position.

Runs for 120 metres a game, he's got an offload in him, breaks heaps of tackles and can get his outside man away. His real deficiency is defence but with competent defenders around him who make the right decisions he should get better by extension.

Much happier with this contract extension for Kepaoa, than the similar one recently given to To'a by the club.

Time will tell on both decisions and we can only hope they were correct ones, as they now take up 2 of our outside back spots for another two years to come.

WT and us fans need more, particularly from our centres, so for mine right now, particularly with Doueihi in the halves, we still need a better signing for at least one side of the field at centre.

Is he going to displace To'a, who got an extension this year, or Nado in the centres and he's competing against Noffa and Ken for a wing spot.
He's had more so so game than good ones.
Sheens sees something in him though as he was one of the first to get an extension this year.
I guess it's whoever performs get a gig, which is the way it should be.

Kepo is only a centre. Toa is a great is a winger.

He needs to learn.defence. see what a few of these players are made of this year.

Well he tries that's for sure. Yep we'll have to wait and see 🤔

Everyone was rinsing AJ because
his eyesight was poor and he dropped
balls. That man came back from
knee reco and a torn pec muscle.
Still looked better than some outside
backs last year. He got waved/traded to us when SBW rejoined the roosters, Christian Tuipolotu was still at the roosters at that stage but we picked AJ for good reason. Quick and strong. He's a sleeper,
his name doesn't come up as much
as some others when it
comes to who will improve in '23 but I think he'll be up there somewhere for sure.

What @Kaito said ^^^^^^

Like yourself, I am happy for whomever deserves their spot, and whilst they are similarly young, Asu has had the setbacks and I expect a higher ceiling.

Either way, at least one of them has to earn their extension for our team to move up the ladder.
