Last words said, "At least we aren't without a win hay" .

That's exactly what I want to be hearing from the coach,

What a joke.

He actually said "at least Melbourne had a win ay"

As if results are reliant upon whether the opposition had a win the week before or not

Smart coach

It means everything on here. Half the forum base our chances on the result our opposition had the week before.

That was clearly a joke, hang the coach for the team performance but he was making a joke. He was referring to playing Penrith and Raiders coming off tough losses, i.e. they were expected to fire up after a limp week. And thus, Melbourne won, as a joke, they would therefore be an easier prospect.

A win hay? Oh Milky

Exactly.
Obviously Taylor is no comedian but a deaf Stevie Wonder would have known that was a joke.
Some people will twist anything to suit their agenda.

He did say early in his tenure here the dumbest thing I have ever heard from a top level coach, " You guys are just looking at whether we win or lose and the competition ladder.", what the hell else is there to gauge it on, he should have been sacked then.
