flags, anthems, patriotic songs are layered with history and symbolisms. i find it hard to dislike them when you know the meaning behind them.
however, i do agree with some. i hate blind and over the top patriotism. imo these things are about showing respect and celebrating whatever country we live in.

National anthem is much better than the former God Save The King/queen, yet our current leader (of Team Australia) still thinks we should have him/her as our head of state.
