CHRIS HEIGHINGTON’S accent is more Bondi than Bradford but the Wests Tigers star cannot wait to pull on an England jersey for the first time.

The 28-year-old NRL veteran is expected to make his debut against France in Avignon on Friday.

“I’m proud of where my family come from and, if I get the opportunity to pull on that jumper, I’ll put everything in,” he said.

Born in Sydney, the experienced back row forward qualified through his English father, Tom.

The family carry the surname of the North-East village – Heighington, near Darlington – where their roots lie.

He added: “My mum and dad are coming over and can’t wait to enjoy the experience with me.”

Thats not true Sabre We don't even bother using dodgy availability rules
But who cares after 6 straight series wins :roll
Congratulations to Rhino and Gareth on their Test selections

im an aussie living in london so will go to see england vs australia at wembley..plus NZ vs wales beforehand. hopefully heighington, ellis, keithy, lawrence and benji all play (and maybe even ex tiger chase also). the main thing i want to see is the tigers players do well…plus for england to put up a fight against aus. would actually like to see england beat aus just to make the series interesting...

It is unfortunate that all of these games aren't being televised back to Australia. Good luck Heighno.

wow will have 7 internationals from our club , if we cant win the comp in the next 2 years dont know when the hell will win one again… dont blame Heighno he should of been an origin player the last 2 years

8\. Woods - Train on Kangaroo
9\. Farah - played for Australia
10\. Galloway - played for Australia
11\. Blair - Played for NZ
12\. Ellis - Played for England
13\. Heighington - Playing for England.

😱pen_mouth:

That's a far cry from our pack of previous years who were criticized mercilessly for being too small, no-names, etc…

and THAT is on top of:

2\. Tuqiri - Played for australia
3\. Lawrence - Played for australia
6\. Marshall NZ Captain.

I mean **SERIOUSLY**, if we cannot be genuine title contenders next year, I don't know when we'll next win a comp.

Congrats Chris. Hope you have a whale of a game to increase your chances of playing in the 4 Nations!

Underdog I was thinking the same! How many current NRL team can boast that type of internationals list?

And Cunno, do you know off the top which games are/not being televised?

i lost a bit of respect for heighno for doing this..
he's the biggest aussie you'll ever meet..

im just happy he is getting a rep jersey. For years he has deserved one but our selectors play boys club and chrissie plays for the wrong club side .

Awesome news for Chris. Unfortunately he doesn't play for Manly, the Roosters or the Broncos so he does what he has to do. Personally, I hope he smashes the living crap out of some of our pretenders.

Whatever happens, he will give 100% and has earned it, which is more than I can say for some running around in rep footy at the moment.

The last search I did showed channel 9 telecasting Australia's first game. That's all I could find, I thought foxtel might broadcast as well but I can't find anything from them as yet. I checked last week will try again.
