Aussies 2018 tour of South Africa Spoilers

Michael Clarke has put his hand up to return as the Aussie skipper if asked !
:roll

People have their opinions on Pup, most can't stand him, but this would never have happened under him. If it was pitched in a team meeting he would have shut it down immediately. Smith's position as captain is untenable in my opinion, and I would like to see all involved brought home when this match concludes (and potentially stood down for future series). Australia have a poor reputation in world cricket, and often we get high and mighty on others who break the rules, but we can take a hardline stand on this rubbish right now. To put a rookie in the position to do the dirty work is also very poor form, especially one whose position in the team is hanging by a thread and was likely to be dropped any way.

I was laughing more at the amount of time Clarke has been out of the national side …
Most of the current Aussie test side are flogs IMO

Smith and Warner have stood down as Captain and VC for the remainder of the test. Warner looks like a man awaiting execution.

Never have I seen almost 100% of people condemn these guys. Usually you will get a few apologists. I have seen one idiot claim that what Smith did was due to the pressure of what happened to Warner and the Rabada decision. Apart from that, universal hate. They are getting smashed on the CA FB page. Public pressure is going to make it impossible for these guys to be let off lightly.

And rightly so. Push the line on the field sure but blatant pre-planned cheating is just inexcusable. Smith and warner have been our best bats for a while but they can’t be excused because of talent. Let people who respect their roles take over.

There lucky the South Aftican crowds are dismall
If this happened in England the Barmy Army would be having a field day !

I honestly liked Smith as Captain and a player and still can't believe what he's done !

The whole leadership group should have their contracts ripped up.
Nothing less.

I’d actully go easy on Bancroft. Purely because it was obviously the plan to make the poor guy the scapegoat. Go for the cheats who were the architects and go for the jugular.

Bancroft should've known better or maybe do you think he was roped into it ?
Time will tell …

His place in the team was hanging by a thread. He probably felt like he couldn’t say no.

Who's the rest of the so called leadership group apart from the obvious ?

I’d say Starc is in there, possibly Lyon. Everyone else is too fresh or in and out of the squad.

I’d guess it went down a bit like this Smith, Warner, Lehmann have a chat and come up with a plan. ‘Hey Cam what do you think of this?, it’ll really help us out’

Question is who else knew was involved. Hanscomb clearly ran a message out so this must run deep in the squad.

Bancroft was thrown under the bus by the “so called Leadership group”.
Great leaders!!!!

My predicted punishments -
Lehmann sacked
Smith to lose captaincy, dropped for next test series, and a six figure fine
A slightly lesser punishment for Warner and any other of the leadership group involved (eg banned for half a series, and a smaller fine)
Bancroft dropped for 4th test + fine
Handscomb and any other non-leadership player involved - fine
