AUSTRALIA’S Anzac Test against New Zealand has officially been postponed until Sunday after Brisbane’s weather deluge forced a late cancellation to the rugby league international at Suncorp Stadium.

It is the first time in Test match history a rugby league international has been postponed due to the weather.

Officials spent the past two hours scrambling to consider alternatives to the farcical weather situation confronting them in Brisbane and have decided to reschedule the Kangaroos and Kiwis game to Sunday.

The NRL said safety was the primary reason for the decision.

“There were a number of considerations for this decision, primarily player safety as well as that of our supporters,” Head of Football Todd Greenberg said.

With a heavy schedule of plans on the Gold Coast on Saturday — a triple header at Cbus Super Stadium involving Junior Kangaroos and two Pacific Nations clashes — the NRL has opted to play the match on Sunday instead.

It means Channel Nine will retain broadcast rights to the game and the NSW City and NSW Country clash will now take a back seat to the rescheduled international.

They have been telling people all day in SEQ to stay inside , amazed it took this long to make a decision

You'd be spewing if you were on your way to the game now

bugger, wonder what's going to be on instead then tonight?

so, this will be live starting at 130 Sunday arvo with the other games delayed now?

1) Test Match football should never be played in the inferior state again

2) What about the Kiwis that flew over and paid for flights and accommodation?

why play the game in qld bloody hell, NSW is the better state..

Because you'd only get about 3000 people and they would want to throw their water bottles at everyone

A Test match postponed because of rain FFS, what a disgrace. Greenberg needs to go,he is a Nancy who postpones games at the first sign of un-pristine weather. What a joke. It would of been awesome to have seen a Test played in a slog like that, better than seeing the score finish 36-34\. Soccer has long been ridiculed as the softest form of football in Oz but at least they play in the rain. The excuse of player safety is utter BS….what, will they catch a cold? Lightning you can postpone a game for,not bloody RAIN! What an embarrassment to our great game.

Management are all sissys and trying to turn the game into a joke.

Smith, Greenburg and Grant - hang your head in shame - and while your doing that… resign.

Who the hell uses Bing?

QLD is the bumhole of Australia when it comes to sporting events. Every single Gabba cricket Test loses days to rain and now this. QLD: raining one day, raining the next. Gods country?? Pfft

You do understand it has to do with the fact that fans weren't going to show

Some areas in Brisbane have had over 300 mill of rain in less than 24 hours and the worst was basically going to be sitting over Brisbane NOW

I hope people are just taking the piss with some of these comments. Hard to tell tone on here.

Maybe we could of rugged the lil darlings up in raincoats, jodhpurs and wellies and sent them out into the RAIN? Cups of tea in fine China or fluffy drinks with umbrellas in them perhaps?? WHAT A DISGRACE. Embarrassing for our code when all is said and done. Hope it isn't TOO SUNNY on Sunday or heaven forbid a light zephyr passes over the field. Little children play RL in far worse conditions every weekend across the country. This will take some living-down from AFL and soccer. Shameful situation. Who cares if there are only a handful of spectators there watching? The NRL just doesn't want to lose all their revenue by having to refund people who brought tickets to the game. That is the bottom line. Postponed due to player safety?? What a load.

Lame excuse, why does there need to be spectators? We can't have the NRL losing revenue. YIPPY YIPPY YO YIPPY YIPPY. At least it is comforting to know the Kangaroos are good at indoor cricket :unamused: Does QLD deserve top level sport? Perhaps not. Face facts Happy….why is QLD called The Sunshine State? Got me beat......

Well FTB is heading into NSW as we speak

I'll show some class and hope that none of your friends or family are affected by this

You have to weigh everything up , possibly losing power , having thousands of people in an area that floods quite easily , it is basically in a bowl , everything flows down towards Suncorp
