I guess JT must be doing something right and it's not all " abandon ship"

I was wrong.

I was led to believe he had already signed for the Sharks in June or July (or was imminently about to)

Given the source was extremely close to it all, I wonder if it was almost a done deal and there was a backflip, or something else at play.

They signed Gallen and heino again…
Surely, they can't pour any more cash into the pack. Would also expect a fight on Thiet hands to hang onto bird

Interesting though that they had a video of him announcing his re-signing. Shouldn't he be in Bali right about now?

It was obviously signed and sealed some time ago, but only delivered today for whatever reason.

Maybe that's why he didn't show any excitement when he was being interviewed. He looked a bit bored.
I like Ava. Glad he's staying

I've been very impressed with our signings so far, but Ava is the best one.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to think Dene won't be extended unless Farah leaves.

Great news! I'm glad the OP put the hyphen in 're-signs' in the thread title or else I would've had a conniption!

Re-signs*

Too busy touching myself to worry about grammar….

I opened the thread thinking he had resigned and hone elsewhere.

Very happy he is staying.
Cronulla fans (on their forum) were pretty confident they were going to sign him.

Sharks were no chance of signing Ava. Congrats to the big fella on being able to stick around for another couple of years.

Another one off at the conclusion of 2017..

Maybe the plan is to sit them down together sometime towards the end of next season and convince them to all take pay cuts and "build something special" together in 2017 onwards..

Maybe they don't have a read on the entire squad just yet and are targeting 2017 as the year they make some tough decisions, with the option of bringing in new players if some players aren't performing as expected in 2017.

Maybe they just have no idea and are winging it…

More like as has been pointed out before the new TV rights deal comes into play in 2018 and with it a large jump in the Salary Cap…the wonderful player managers are lining their clients up for that...

If you have a quick look at zero tackle you will find a heap of players from ALL clubs coming off contract in 2017...DCE excepted...

Exactly, with the Salary cap increase in 2018 I think clubs/managers are holding fire on contracts past 2017.

It will be an enormous breath of fresh air for our club tbh. We can essentially start fresh and pick exactly the players we want to keep and who we need to purchase on the open market (as so many other players will be coming off contract it will be like bloody fantasy football).
