Blake Ayshford quashes rumours that he is due to be traded to make space for Michael Jennings

WESTS Tigers centre Blake Ayshford has quashed rampant talk he is being pushed out of the club - as Panthers general manager Phil Gould insisted NSW centre Michael Jennings is going nowhere.

Ayshford has been at the centre of persistent rumours for two months about being squeezed out of the Tigers so they can accommodate the potential arrival of the disgruntled Penrith superstar.

Club officials have maintained that is not the case, and Ayshford yesterday broke his silence on the matter.

He will meet new coach Mick Potter today but has already been assured he is wanted at Concord Oval in the post-Tim Sheens era.

"I signed last year for three years and I want to see that out," the 24-year-old said.

"People keep coming up to me and telling me where I'm going. I've heard some crazy rumours.

"The club has never told me that I was getting shopped around, or I was being released. As far as I knew, I was playing for the Tigers.

"I've got all my mates at the club. Some have gone, that's part of footy, but I want to play for the Tigers.

"I just got off the phone to (Potter). I'll see what he wants out of me this year. And how to get the best out of me."

The truth behind Ayshford's situation at the Tigers is that South Sydney approached him in August about a possible move to Redfern.

With the Tigers feeling the strain of salary cap pressure, Ayshford was granted permission to speak to the Rabbitohs - but that is as far as negotiations went.

Jennings, though, continues to be be linked to several NRL clubs - including Parramatta - but only the Dragons have held genuine interest.

Gould confirmed to The Daily Telegraph last night the Dragons had made an approach, but Jennings' manager Isaac Moses had told him Jennings wasn't interested.

"The only approach the Panthers have received concerning Michael Jennings has been from St George Illawarra," Gould said. "Michael Jennings' manager called me six weeks ago and said he was not interested in dealing with St George Illawarra."

Gould has made it clear throughout this year he would not be prepared to pay out any of the Jennings deal if he was to be moved on.

While the Panthers have salary cap concerns, they are not so hamstrung they must release Jennings, who is the highest-paid player at the Panthers on a deal worth $600,000 for this season.

Great to finally hear something even if it is in the telegraph.

Here's hoping Ayshford finds form again!

Don't know if its a coincidence or not but its nice to have a lot of these players rumors cleared up once Potter has joined.

Best part. Wish that was Benji's attitude after they both left.
Exactly what we want… Players who care about the club and want to play for it.

Good to clean this one up. Blake struggled this season but he wasn't alone. He deserves a chance to put it right in 2013\. Only surprising thing here was the DT used actual player quotes!!

Couldn't agree more Anthism. He was down on form but he definitely seems to have the right attitude in regards to the club.

Hopefully he resurrects his form under Potter, seems to have been the sacrificial lamb in Sheens' eyes last year by dropping him when others were as equally woeful.

I think the issue is his playing weight. 2010/2011 he was at his perfect playing weight for the centres. 2012 he was too heavy for the centres and too light for lock. Once potter decides what he wants from him he needs to change his diet and playing weight to adapt to that position the best. 5kg's more for backrow, 5-10kgs less for centre

Its good isnt it?
More than a coincidenc imo….Sheens had little time for media towards the end, swearing cursing losing his cool, needing Robbie to step in and save him......

Lots and lots of loose ends now all being tied up, no more question marks (well not as many)...much less negative media and a lot more positive stories.

Just shows what media hype can do. Club in crisis, we're going broke, off loading players left right and centre. In the end we lost an out of form lock and an average 27 year winger who just happened to have his best season ever and thus wanted more than the club was prepared to pay. Personally I think our stocks are looking pretty good for next year and now with an enthusiastic coach who appears to have a strong work ethic and an aim to re-instill a sense of team and playing for one another back into the outfit.

BREAKING NEWS: "IM GOING NOWHERE" SAYS AYSHFORD

the world of DT is very balanced

Would prefer to keep Blake then get Jennings. No doubts Jennings can be a match winner but has been injury prone and lacking in attitude over the last few seasons. Willing to give Blake a run under a new coach, we know he can be good. Like the team as a whole he seemed to play in patches. 6 good games then 5 bad games. His back end of 2010 was sensational, hoping he can recapture that form under potter. If not Simona would be ready to step in.
