Ayshford

Is Sironan a fait accompli when he is fit ?
In other words, is he a certainty to come straight back into the starting line up ?

not IMO, if Aysford and the team play well, perhaps he will stay in 6 adn Siro to the bench.

Ive said before that I dont see us being able to play 3 wingers in the starting side long term, Beau is going well in the centres, but is playing as a winger in reality. All 3 are playing well, so I dont know who should exit the starting side, but im sceptical that we can keep playing them, which would see Blake go into the centres

Utai would have to be the odd man out, despite his great form of late. There's no reason he couldn't be thrown in the prop rotation though and bash it up the middle.

Ayshford in the centres Beau to the wing & Utai off the bench, pretty simple really.

x2.

So what has Beau done wrong at centre or Utai done wrong on the wing ??

Don't you think Ayshford needs to show us more than one good game ??

Especially seeing its Round 16 and we have only seen 1 good game …

Why is he not extended the same courtesies that other players have received? (i.e. Tuqiri, Moltzen, Blair…)

Tuqiri is coming back from a very long lay off and his improvement is definitely on an incline

Moltzen (and I'm one of his harshest critics) has definitely improved over the last month

Blair has been on the improve (barring Sunday) and even including Sunday I thought at least he was getting involved and trying to create chances they just didn't come off

Ayshford really hasn't gone anywhere Defensively I think he has gone backwards I reckon his tackle completion rate would be worse than last season Attack was the best it has been all season v the Roosters , but it is still a far cry from where it was in 2011

Doesn't help when he is this season's equivalent of Moltzen… He's playing at right centre, five-eighth or second row...

The other blokes are being given time in their preferred positions and no wonder they're starting to take a bit of form.

Certainly not.

However,

IMO Beau is a quality winger, who can finish a play off.

Ayshford can attract players, and is a damaging ball runner out in the centres - I said earlier in the year that Beau could be a smokey for top tryscorer if Ayshford can keep his form, because he will always attract players, creating the extra man out wide. Ayshford unfortunately didn't maintain his 2011 form, but is coming back into it, and as long as he can offload to Ryan, Beau's Try scoring will increase.

Utai I have said from the start is a brilliant impact player, and does the hard work - i'd put him into the forwards rotation (particularly with Ellis due back soon, and Fulton), but have him on the fringes, where he can be 3rd man in in attack, and the maybe swap with ayshford in defense (2nd man in)

I love what he brings to the team, but out of the three of Ryan, Ayshford, and Utai, Utai's defense is the weakest - and three guys can't fit in two spots. Thats the only reason i'd have him on the bench in lieu of the other two.

Aysh has another opportunity this weekend to show us his stuff. If he plays well again then give him a chance to prove himself and play Sirro off the bench (when he returns).

Well said, If Blake continues to play 5/8 and shows improvements than I don't see why he can't stay there

just quietly, (and a bit off topic, sorry) how much SPEED did Beau Ryan show scoring that try off the back of Utai's 20m restart?

He pinned his ears back, and outpaced some of the faster Roosters backs to get in under the posts! Top work!

how many games this season has ayshford played a full 80 minutes at right centre? i seem to recall not many.. i dont think ayshford has been given as many opportunites this year compared to years prior, and i think that is what is affecting his form. he needs half a dozen games in a row, playing in the same position for the entire game so he can start to get into his rhythm and be firing come finals time. at the moment he looks a bit lost out there and cant seem to settle in anywhere. id liken him to moltzen last year… early in the yr he struggled as he was coming off the bench or playing different positions each week. then when he settled into the fullback spot he was playing the best footy of his career thus far. we need to do the same with ayshford. yes, beau ryan has done nothing wrong in the centres, but long term ayshford is a lot better option in the centres than ryan

Yeah I agree Underdog I would be just us happy to see Utai in the forward rotation but not until Ellis and Fulton are back

I think he will struggle with the extra workload and could become a defensive liability late in his stints off the bench

Back on topic . Ayshford's running game shouldn't be to dissimiliar from the 6 or 4 jerseys to be honest The main difference being he has more pressure at 6 , but more room to move at 6 also

I take your point about the different positions , but I'm more concerned about his attitude at times

He seems to have lost that fire in his belly your saw last season and again defensively it is easier to defend at 6 or the second row than it is at 4 Again the only difference is you make more tackles usually

Even that hasn't changed too much He usually makes between 15-20 tackles a game and when he has played 6 it hasn't noticably increased

I'll be honest if he doesn't show some major signs of improvement by the end of the season , Sheens we need to take a long hard look at him As someone else said we have an abundance of talent coming through in the juniors

His running game is his asset, his passing game is not good enough for a 5/8 in my opinion. We have an abundance of talent on the wings Happy, but do we really in the Centers? We have lost Simona according to reports and the guys in the 20's haven't set the world on fire.

I would lose Reddy before Ayshford, but I would let Lote go before either of these guys.

It won't matter if we have Folau and Grothe Senior on the wings , if they can't get decent ball or looked after in defence they will look as bad as the worst wingers running around

We all need to look at the big picture .

wtf has he done wrong in the centre? it feels like we are having utai in the team just coz of his runs at the beginning of the set. for that we are screwing up the whole right side attack which we have developed over the years with benji, aysh and ryan.

it seems very ridiculous to me that even though aysh is still fit, he is not being put straight back into right centre wear he can best serve the team.

The good news is that, based on my observations, ayshfords best periods of form have come just after his worst. I seem to remember him having a terrible start to 2010 where he missed some shocking tackles and was threatened with reserve grade, but then went on fire for the next 18 months. let's hope history repeats.

He was way out of form early in the season. Reddy essentially forced his way into centre at the time because he was playing better.

Since then things have just evolved each week.

he was just not playing to his potential.. and no one in our backline was except ryan. also, what has reddy done wrong in the centres? i want one of them in the centres, beau on the wing. im pushing for aysh because ryan and himself have built a good partnership over a couple of years and there is no point breaking that for utai.

hahaha…Utai plays his best football, as opposed to Aysh and you want Aysh to replace Utai? :crazy

If Utai wasn't playing well, maybe this argument would stick

Moltzen has been in the side due to luck. If Tadesco wasn't injured, Moltzen may not be in the team right now.

Tuqiri is playing because of reputation, although he has improved 10 fold from the early rounds. I really dont see him in the team next year.

Aysh doesnt have the luck like Moltzen, nor the reputation like Tuqiri, and isnt playing as well as Utai right now

I would, however, take him over Reddy
