Ayshford

Think Ayshford deserves some praise for the way he handled Tahu on the weekend and i'm assuming he is up against Inglis this week which is going to be a huge challenge with plenty of traffic likely to come his way. Hopefully he took some confidence from his effort against Tahu. I expect Lawrence and Tuqiri to be seeing plenty of ball this week against the Storm. Who is the other centre for the Storm at the moment?

Just read that Sika Manu played centre. Hopefully he plays in the same position again because Lawrence will have a field day and may not even have to pass the ball to find Lote

Agree, Den, Ayshford has had Tahu and Jennings in the last two weeks and has handled both well. Steep learning curve these last few weeks for the kid. Also feel that when he gets someone backing up on the inside (ala Hodgo) then we will see a lot of tries coming from his side, as he gets that hand/ball free quite often.

Ayshford generally beat the first player every time with his jinking awkward runs, and looked solid in defense.

If he puts some weight on over summer, and doesn't lose that awkward to tackle feel he'll be an extremely useful prospect in 2011.

I must admit after watching the fox replay again today that Ayshford was one of our best.
He was good in attack and defence except for 1 break when he got bumped by Justin Horro guy and Benji had to cover.
Speaking of confidence , i'm sure Ayshford gained a lot of it.He got better and more effective as the game went on.Hope he sorts GI this game.

Inglis played on the right on Saturday. If he stays there, he will be running at Lawrence and Lui…

Hadn't noticed before but Blake was defending 3 in and Benji was in the centres.. was that a first? I know that in the past every now and again they might swap but they kept that defensive structure for the entire 80 minutes. Blake & Fulton looked like a strong defensive pair out wide.

He's a good defender on his day, like most inexperienced players the gap between his best and worst is still the main issue.

Guess you were. He is a good ball runner, alright defender, terrible ball player. In every game he plays he always has ample opportunities to set up Ryan or whatever winger he has outside him and never does. On very rare occasions he turns the ball back inside. Either he doesn't trust his left to right pass at all or he doesn't trust his winger at all. Either way, the guy doesn't seem to be a right sided player. The games he played on the left when Lawrence was at centre weren't bad either from memory.

I`ve been highly critical of Blake being selected in the side, but i`ve got to give credit where credit is due and despite one bad missed tackle early in the game I thaught Blake went very well against the Eels.
He played with a bit of aggression and really had a go, i`ll be happy to say I was wrong if he keeps putting in like that.

Ayshford needs someone running off the inside of him. He'd have a killer offload, always gets his right arm free to flick inside.
