Ayshford

I was actually thinking he is under-rated! He brings plenty to our team and is only young and will get better because he is learning fast. But he has always shown strength and his build suggests he could become a big lad.

Last night was the best defensive effort I've seen against Morris.

What does he bring?

I see a lot rap him in the 3-2-1's…I dont see much in him, Ive never been much of a fan.

What am I not seeing?

Well then i feel sorry for you…the boy is class

Christ…this place is childish at times.
.
Instead of the dig, why not try and explain the class you see, as per the request in the original post?

Innk,

I gave 3 points to Ayshford this week for his overall game as a whole. His defence was outstanding and he shut down the dangerous Josh Morris. He also proved a handful in attack and made a few half breaks.

To me he is the most improved player in the team. I didn't think he was ready last season when Sheens called him into the top squad but with more and more experience he is improving. He is following in the same path as Lawrence did in my opinion.

I still havenet seen the replay, watched last night from one try line so not a good view.
I have seen glimpses tbh of good things of him in the past…but all too rarely...I dont think he's a centre though, he frustrates me with the ball- seems to take wrong options often. Wont pass, passes when its not on, runs when he should pass etc

on this occasion i aggree with u 100% INK… he is a big of a HOG and last night there were a few times he could have passed and would have put us into a gap.. Mind u this is is not because we lost.. in games we have won and looked like we would have scored he has kept the ball himself.. ive been saying this for 6 mths..

I just cant wait to see Arana on the field.. just one of those players i think if fit he could be the next key player of the team...

Agree.

Ayshford has contained two of the best centres in the game, two weeks in a row, in games he was initially ruled out of with injury. Tonga and Morris were both hardly mentioned and it was because of Ayshford. He also often breaks the first tackle and if he developed his passing game a bit more would make a LOT of line break assists. He is young though. He is a talent.

He's no ______________ (insert name here)

Now if only there were a sarcasm emoticon

agree 100%

just not a natural footballer imo, well not a natural center anyway. he does stifle our attack frequently, its no coincidence ryan has looked great after being moved away from him

he performs against the bigger names opponents eg morris and tonga the last two weeks but seems to struggle against the weaker opponents eg croker and graham so he needs to lift for the weaker opponents next week against purtell will be a good test

A good young centre is what he is. His defence is very impressive. He will make a miss or two but he makes less than most players of his age and FG career would at this stage. His very strong out of dummy half and a busy player. The best thing is that he will improve. He can learn to improve his play with his wing-man. Will end up a back-rower but hopefully isn't rushed there.

a lot of people say to me ashyford better step up tonite the kid goes great especially in defence, and it has improved a lot this year

I think he is a centre. I remember when Lawrence first moved into the centre's many wanted him to stay on the wing or move to fullback, he couldn't pass the ball and he couldnt defend, he always seemed to drop off tackles or make the wrong read, but now look at him.
I think Ayshford has the right build to be a good centre as well, and I think through time he will improve in that position.
If he continues to work on his game, he will put on a little bit of size and hopefully develop a good passing game, it doesnt help that he is on the wrong side of the field to pass (Left to right) and that he doesnt normally have a great winger, or even a specialist outside him.
As for now, I think he is a good finisher, he does sometimes have a defensive lapse, but if he can continue to shut down opponents like Morris regularly, then I think he will be a great player for us. I just dont see what he would offer in the forwards that the likes of Heighno dont.

a female friend of mine who has watched 2 rugby league games decided that the tigers #3 is her favourite player because he was always tackling and running hard.
