Ayshford's future?

The is the same Ayshford who stepped through the Warriors backline in 2011 to put Marshall over to score when we were being smashed - probably a turning point of the game?

The same Ayshford who was the centre to Beau Ryan during 2011 who was also our highest try-scorer that year? obviously he didn't pass the ball to him…..

Get a grip lads. He's a good quality player who has had a year filled with interruptions, and stop and starts. Give the kid some stability and he'll rampage.

I honestly hope we haven't lost him - as he would be a bigger loss long term than Heighno, and Ryan.

Could have had soemthing to do with the coach? Letting Gibbs go? It seems pretty obvious in hindsight but Camp Concorde did not have the most jolly of years and a lot of fallouts in friendship and team cameraderie occurred.

Whetehr we should keep him or not would depend on his attitude and desire to play for us. I think he will come good if he regains the pride he had for the Tigers.

Blake Ayshford has been released there is an article on fox sports to prove it so just type it into google and it should come up. I don't understand why they would release him he is a good player so he had a shit year this year but over the years he has filled dean collis' spot very well since he left the tigers.

New Warriors coach Matt Elliott's dropped his biggest hint yet of the players he's looking to entice to the club.

While not confirming anything, Elliott says the likes of off-contract Tigers centre Blake Ayshford and Bulldogs half Trent Hodkinson are the type of players he's got in his sights.

He says they're certainly players they'll be looking at.

Matt Elliott says he's also sounded out another candidate for a second assistant alongside Tony Iro, who seems keen.

That means were really close to signing Jennings please be true what a team were setting up for next year.

No it doesn't mean that at all. Again playing darts blindfolded

And again, another blindfolded darts player. The only thing that proves a release is official word from the Tigers, not a an article on the fox sports website laced with speculation. The article your referring to is a month old btw

Lets see how the guy responds to a new coach… this could be a rebirth as with a few others in the squad .

Plenty of players did nothing this year. Plenty of players across the NRL have an off year, you don't just dump them if they still have potential.

He wasn't given anything to work with in 2012.

He was dragged to backrow and 5/8 at the drop of a hat and didn't get any chances to settle.

2010 and 2011 he played the grand total of one position - Centre, and jeez louise, he played it damn well.

I thought Ashford was very poor in 2012\. I'll grant you he got poor ball this year. but he missed way too many tackles and gave away a lot of penalties.
until this year I was a big fan and hope he can regain form. but feel to blame others for his poor year is not quite right.

centre is the hardest position to defend at.

he was effed around all season and then had players who have played in the same position run at him at different sorts of angles, players who have build combos with their halves all year run at him.. it becomes very hard.

his defense was not at his best this year, no two questions on that, but the way he was moved around and that last year his defense was top notch doesn't mean at all that he is CRAP and MUST be moved.

Work with a guy who has connections with the Tiger_Sharks and he tells me they are trying to find cap space for Blake and are very keen to lure him down their. Not sure if it has legs but it would make sense, they are very low on 3s and 4s

Well no, that's not the case. We don't have the coin for Jennings.

While I wouldn't mind Ayshford staying, I think too many people talked the guy way too much after 2010 and 2011\. 2011 He had a good year, but a lot of people labelled it "amazing" and "rep worthy", when really other than a dominant display vs NZ, it was just solid/good.

On pace, he might have it when he gets into space, but the issue is he is very slow off the mark, doesn't run onto the ball and doesn't get going. Every player out there is generally quick once they are in space (I.E - Did you see when Pearce scored vs the Dragons this year and the commentators said, I didn't realise Pearce was a speedster). And the issue with Ayshford is he very rarely gets into space and takes an age to get going. So I think labelling him slow is a fair call. And despite your stat on Ryan, Ayshford has a terrible passing game. Ayshford is just a ball runner, he never looks to pass. I don't remember one time ever (and happy for you to provide examples), where Ayshford legitimately set up his outside man.

On the up side, he has handy footwork and his defence is good. He misses tackles here and there, but so do most centres. Defence is not the issue. He COULD turn out to be a bigger loss than Heighno/Ryan, as unlike those two, Ayshford actually has a few pretty good attributes. But Pace and passing are not one of them.
