Do people seriously still have a problem with this 30 years later?

Yes!

Wow

I'm still dirty about 78 vs Manly

I'm still dirty on 1909 as well as 1989. Time is not a healer.

I was in touch with an old mate that's a bunnies fan. Each year he posts the tally of premierships per club. So I let him have it with both barrels this year. He was carrying on about the clubs humility blah, blah, blah. Lying deceptive scum that include a gf win that never was is far from being humble. They could easily leave that one out. But no, just a dirt bag of a club. Conveniently, they never remember, but tigers don't forget

FOX just aired a great 1989 30 years on with Block, Siro and Elias.

Still painful, but well worth a watch.

FWIW the McGuire 'shepherd' was one of the truly bad decisions. Changed the game and even the Canberra trio on the show all agreed.

30 years on and I still can't believe Ginger Meggs did not score.............

Nope doesn’t help at all. Canberra getting dudded doesn’t heal anything. 1989 will be a sore point until the day I die. I’ve never watched a replay in full and never will. The sight of Bill Harrigan still makes me bitter.

I don't like him either, he's a cocky arrogant so & so on MMM

Forgive my memory.... What was the subsequent play from THAT penalty?
I Recall it was about 30 or 40 out from balmain end... Would've put Raiders on the attack immediately

Why is it "only fair"@Tiger_Steve that "old W*ests diehards" [note* uppercase W]
like me, "let go of the whole manly thing?"

From memory they kicked a goal to get within converted try range

I could have copped Raiders losing yesterday in a manner reasonably similar to 1989, unfortunate part is that this would mean a Roosters victory which makes me vomit in my mouth.

A premiership would do wonders in Canberra, does SFA in Bondi. Roosters are not a club that boosts the NRL's national interests in any fashion.

2 reasons - Easts were an ARL team in the Super League war and they at least are a Sydney team.

I don't get that, I hate Sydney-based teams most of all. That's the whole idea of local derbies.

Hate Roosters
Hate Parra
Hate Bulldogs
Hate Dragons
Hate Manly
Hate Sharks
Hate Penrith

probably in that order. I dislike a few other teams as well, but nowhere near as much as I hate Roosters / Eels / Bulldogs.

Wow Super League, that's 25 years ago, even Balmain existed then.

They exist and always will for me.

You can let go now.... The ledgers squared.

Your burden absolved... Monkeys off the back

I expect never to hear a whinge about 89 ever again.

Got it?

As long as old wests diehards let go of the whole manly thing...
Only fair

Yes I’ve done that, I actually like Manly now ?

I cannot stand when people want to go for teams just because they are a NSW team. It’s not Origin. Usually they’re casual supporters anyway.

If not for the Tigers and if I had to stay supporting, I would choose either Raiders or Warriors....

All the other teams can simply burn
