This is what happens when people bvote for a party with no policy platform

Central Coast. I did live in Leichhardt before I moved up here.

Yeh…maybe Laurie once lived there too...regardless, you dont have to reside in an electorate to have a concern
My post was more reflective of how the area has changed...for the worse in some aspects

Not everything is a dig… I was just asking a question.

Did the Greens get in? The site will become a nature reserve.

Greens won Balmain yes. It's one electorate against a landslide. I don't see Parker being able to do too much.

It won't be a nature reserve. It's been submitted as section 3a, which means the council has no say, instead the planning minister does.

Now Baz has said he will change the planning laws, but since it's already lodged I'm not sure where exactly the DA stands, although since it has already been lodged then the current law should still apply regardless.

Either way, if Rozelle Village can get the DGR sorted and stage2 DA submitted before any planning laws are changes, power still rests with the Planning Minister and his Wests Tigers Fan boss, Premier O'farrel

Don't worry guys, this will get through. Yes the current plan will be revised down (as it should) but the Libs have as much interest in it passing as Labor does. Unfortunately for Mr Parker his 30.1% of voters in the electorate will be displeases with his failed anti-Tigers move. They can scurry back to their About Life coffees and Bertoni's cakes for all I care!

Parker won't be able to do anything, the Balmain seat is now wasted in Parliament. Because he alienated the Labor people in an effort to get over Verity Firth they won't help him, and O'Farrell and the Libs don't need him at all, so they will do whatever they want, particularly in the seat of Balmain, and could care less what he thinks. Even though O'Farrell is going to change the development laws, I can't see a Liberal government anywhere that would alter legislation to halt commercial developments…...... particularly since he is a Tigers fan and is well aware of the problems we have had. He has also said he would be doing things in government to help out registered clubs, so I don't think he'd block it.

Quick scan of a letter I received today. (Apologies if the OCR made any of it gibberish) Seems Leichhardt Council and the Greenies are at it again

In June, 2008, the Balmain Leagues Club Masterplan at our home site at Rozelle was approved by Leichhardt Council. As you know, this decision came after four years, seven meetings of Leichhardt Council at which the Masterplan application was discussed and then deferred, and numerous expert reports.
>
Recently without prior knowledge of Leichhardt Council's intention, we have been made aware that Council has taken a vote to reverse this decision and rezone the site again. The 2008 Masterplan approval saw the zoning on the site amended to "special purpose", however after this covert decision was passed in a recent Council meeting, the zoning will soon change back to "business", which has the potential to now prohibit the return of the Club to the site at all.
>
This decision will directly impact on the future redevelopment potential and may very well lead to the death of our great club, Tigers.
>
We are calling on all Tigers Members to show their support of the clubs return to Rozelle by expressing their concern in response to the decision that Council has made without our or the local communities' consultation.
>
We have pre-prepared a letter of objection to the rezoning that we encourage you to sign
and send to the NSW Minister for Planning and Infrastructure and Mayor of Leichhardt. We
will be collecting signatures at both TIGERS Five Dock and TIGERS Sydney Markets clubs and
will be submitting these letters on Members behalf over the next month so feel free to drop in and-show your support that way. You can also download a copy of the letter from our website [www.tigers.org.au](http://www.tigers.org.au)
>
If you have any queries regarding this information please feel free to contact Nicole Florio at the club 8789 3634 or by email at <nicole@tigers.org.au>.
>
We urge all Tigers Members to act now to ensure the ongoing future of our Club before it is too late.</nicole@tigers.org.au>

They should be getting out to our games also and passing out copies of this letter for people to sign and post or drop in
What sneaky bastards, its almost communistic.

Well I thought the whole thing was a long shot….in that area that size development and the Greens running things. The rail link was never going to happen,it was a gamble and one thinks it's dead! I suppose now Balmain leauges will be looking for a large parcel of land to build but not in Balmain ....unfortunatly dealing with the ganggreens is almost impossible especially when they have the balance of power.Welcombe to communism the whole social fabric of our country has changed, prepare for the battle that is coming!
