As a former Balmain fan I am fine with this.Leichhardt oval was amazing in its day and still is now but looking forward I think its time to say goodbye to leichhardt.

No. I'm proud of Balmains history. But that's what it is…..history. Wests Tigers has been my team for 15 yrs now. Ideally I'd like Campbelltown to be redeveloped like some of these other stadiums and have the majority of our games there.

Personally I want Balmain to do well.

The Wests Tigers are an amazing club some follow them through Balmain some Wests some new but our combined heritage should be a strength.

The only thing I want going forward is a balanced perception of the club as a new club with equal links to both Wests and Balmain.

This is important as our CEO recently said " perception is reality".

Media let ons like the team wearing black and gold with a spiritual heartland at LO shows the balance has not been quite right and is a real turn off for former Wests supporters and new supporters.

Also noticed this week that Balmains 106 year heritage must be saved but remember an article a couple of years back taking about the demise of Wests feeder team and saying Wests will soon be forgotten.

As a club the WT are not responsible for this claptrap directly but they are indirectly with the image we have imparted.

Adjustments are and will be made to re educate people away from this nonsense.

In the meantime I hope Balmain become financial again because their heritage snd link is important and we need to reclain control of our club from the NRL.

With or without the leagues club the Wests Tigers will be here…

Yearly NRL grant pays for players salaries.

Sponsorship & memberships pay for the rest.

ie the more members the more money. The more bandwagoners then less money.

I have been genuinely asked by about 10 different people (work and family) whats happening to 'your team' (as a follower of WT) - i answered every time it (Balmain dramas) wont immediately affect WT as a team in the NRL.

Case in point, the general public (nrl fans and news followers) think Balmain Tigers and Wests Tigers are the same entity. This was denied clearly by our CEO.

So yes, its frustrating to have the Wests brand/identity/legacy ignored and forgotten…

Ironic and even more Annoying more when the wests group is the entity keeping WT financially viable for now.

The media coverage of the last week just validates the perception that to the majority, WT is seen as a re-badged Balmain.

You really insist on bringing everything back to ''poor old Wests branding being ignored'' don't you. Not everything is about that garbage, and not everyone perceives them as such. I suppose you overlooked Friday night where Rabs referred to Reddy as an ex-Magpie, and Gus said that Tigers fans everywhere from Lumeah to Leicchardt would be thrilled with the way they played. No, forget about those things and nitpick the things that don't suit you.

When someone disagrees with your agenda = troll. Classic over-used internet expression.

But again, i refer to those two things that happened on Friday night. Will you acknowledge those things as positive steps to acknowledging your precious ''Magpie branding'' or will you rather focus on other rubbish that you find that you can complain about. I validated somebody else's post, i explained what i had experience first hand, the recent events of the last week validated my post, and ofcourse countless of other examples of WT being expressed as a re-badged Balmain..

Very rare mentioning of Wests Magpies in some obscure or historical reference does not make up for it. Its the principle behind the ignorance of those inside and outside WT.

I think wtfl has a valid point there… Im not crying foul for either of the founders, though our inability to play power struggles behind closed doors has blurred the lines between the entities to many if not most, and is an utter failure at a branding level. It is through this failure that the Wests Tigers isnt more insulated from the speculation, and sensationalist journalism.

Maybe it wtfl didnt get it across very well, though Wests and Balmain have failed Wests Tigers massively in this regard.

We are heading in the right direction and noticed what you said on Friday.

At least now Gus has gone from saying they are really Balmain to focusing on the Balmain element in the WT.

We are nearly there and there would be quite a few ex maqpie fans that will come on board to the WT that have been dormant.

Some of this stuff built up over many years so the adjustments will take a little longer.

Well if I was putting in all the money to run a club, I would make sure that my company got their fair share of the publicity.

There is no doubt that Balmain has had the front running as far as this recognition is concerned.

Perhaps the new Management Board will get it back to the correct share basis.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the Weststigers as much as anyone, but there are some things that could be,and should be, changed.

There is an old saying that whoever pays the Piper, calls the tune.

Aren't we actually called 'WESTS' Tigers? Because a few call us Tigers or Wests singularly shouldn't matter. As far as I'm concerned from a Balmain Tigers fan of the past, we can go and call ourselves Western Suburbs Magpies and wear black & white, and they will still be my team. Balmain is gone from the NRL. Western Suburbs is gone from the NRL. They have been gone for 15 years.

My team is called Wests Tigers. I don't care who runs it. I don't care who pays for it. I don't care what 'they' call us. As long as I can put on a jersey, sit and watch my team on the TV or at the game, and rib my mates when we win, then I'm happy.

As a former Balmain tigers fan I must admit Stephen Humphreys single handed attempt to destroy all remnants of western suburbs and promote all things Balmain tigers during his tenure as CEO took this joint venture back 15 years.Remember it was his father Kevin Humphreys who whilst being the boss of the NSWRL tried his hardest to Boot Western Suburbs out of the comp in 1983 before his career was ended due to his corruption issues which were exposed by journalist Chris Masters who yes thats right was THE BROTHER OF ROY MASTERS THE COACH OF WESTERN SUBURBS MAGPIES AT THE TIME.So to say both Humphreys snr and jnr had an axe to grind with the magpies was a massive,massive understatement.Mayer is doing an excellent job but its gonna take a lot of time to fix the tremendous amount of mess Humphreys has left behind.
