Balmain Leagues Club Receivership

Classic 2014 example:

Matty Johns show on fox talking about WT vs South Sydney Game.

"great rivalry between these two clubs" followed by rolling footage of Balmain vs Souths from the 1980's

But don't mention ignorance of Wests History (within WT) on here or else you will be shot down in flames!

It will be like the "fibros v silvertails" love in next week.

Personally I hope the Balmain Leagues does go belly up and the Tigers FC have to sell off their half just so there will be no one to blame when these sorts of faux pas will continue to be made.

Yeah the media is shocking at the moment and his show makes me reach for the remote.

You would think they could occasionally pull up a Wests game from that era,

These things do make an impct on casual supporters and annoy us.

Balmain team was better in that era and won comps. Wests well

Which comp 69?

Wests made finals on 9 occasions since then maybe something from then?

Wests also made semis 3 times after Balmains last appearance.

I guess though Johns is a self confessed Balmain fan.

I think some of you old Magpie supporters need a box of tissues and a good cry to get over all the dastardly things done to you since we joined together.

CK I think you need to give your signed Tim Moltzen poster a big kiss and cuddle

I'm sure Ck has used a few of those over the yrs to cry himself to sleep over the way his baby boy gets treated on the forum.

Darcy Byrne is a politician of the worst kind. Don't be fooled. You only have to look at the recent history of the Annandale Hotel when he did everything he could do to shut it down (or at the very least was majorly unhelpful), and yet when the outcry from locals and patrons AND PRESS happened he magically became a supporting voice for the live music scene. He has done zero to help Balmain Tigers, and yet now it is a topical item in press and social media he writes an emotive rubbish article like that. The guy is a snake.

The legal stoush between the Balmain Leagues Club and a developer over debt may be settled out of court, with a judge ordering the parties to attend mediation.

Rozelle Village bought the club's headquarters in Sydney's inner west suburb to develop it into luxury apartments but the development has languished at the application stage for three years.

The NSW Supreme Court has heard that in that time the leagues club, which owes the developer nearly $8 million, has financially propped up the Wests Tigers NRL team and controversially sold off poker machines.

The leagues club had taken Rozelle Village to court to try to block the company from appointing a receiver or requiring it to pay back the millions sooner.

On Friday, Justice James Stevenson ordered the club and the developer to meet outside court to try to resolve the issues.

If the matters aren't resolved, the case will be back before the Supreme Court on August 4.

Last week, Justice Paul Brereton made orders blocking Rozelle Village from appointing a receiver or placing the leagues club into voluntary administration until further orders.

That injunction is still in place.

The NRL earlier this month attempted to ease concerns over the financial plight of the Wests Tigers by saying the club's future could be secured in the coming days.

I have heard Ian Wright make many comments such as "we want the club to survive", and "the Leagues Club will definitely be part of development".

So then why would he want to appoint receivers and possibly send the club down the gurgler, if he is so keen for them to survive?

Either I am missing something, or the bloke is talking out of his backside.

I dont get it

Whats there to mediate?

One party owes the other $8m

I'd be pretty peeved if I was owed money, went to court and was told to ''sort it out yourself"

The fact the developer's incompetence in getting the development approved has a direct relationship to the leagues club's ability to repay the debt might be a factor.
