Balmain off Tigers board, but will help pick new coach

I love how some people on here pretend they know all the little intricacies on what goes on inside the club.
Or how they just believe any heresay or rumours that somebody tells them.
How about just letting time tell the story, sit back and see how it all unfolds because I guarantee Nome of us know all the details.

The western suburbs side and the NRL are trying to be as diplomatic as possible in the hope they dont lose the Balmain fan base when everything goes pear shaped. Its been widely documented that Balmain has no chance of paying off the debt before next September. The NRL knows the JV will fall apart within 12 months if they are relying on the western suburbs fans and a few of the remaining Balmain fans turning up to games. There are already a large bunch of fans who are turning away in light of the news that the Balmain side is going to be dissolved. As we get closer to the deadline there will be a lot more i dare say. Either way the NRL wins. If the wests tigers can manage to attract a fan base then all good and well, but if not then its the perfect excuse to move the team out of an area that has demolished league with soccer and AFL. After all the rubbish that fans have put up with this year you can understand a lot of people losing patience. Ive been a season ticket holder for 25 years as a WT and Balmain supporter. I take my family to most games every winter, but **im a wests tigers fan**, not a western suburbs fan. If the Balmain identity is removed i will not be supporting yet another hybrid of my team. The NRL can stick it where the sun dont shine.

You sure about that? Because you sound like a Balmain fan.

I am a Balmain fan. Whats wrong with that? Its convinient for guys like you and Happy to bag out foundation club fans but there are a lot of us. When both teams were forced to merge, the main reason most of us continued supporting the team was we still had an identity. If western suburbs had been eaten up by Balmain and they just used the logo or the name to tap into juniors or expand the fan base whilst losing their identity there would be half the fans the JV has now. Its ok for you guys to bag us out but you guys obviously dont know the history involved with foundation fans. As for being happy about losing us, im sure thats all good and well now, but when the board realises that the problems in this club are deeper than on the surface, it will only take another year like this and another coach and the fans you have left will be walking away in droves. There are a lot of emotional tigers and magpies fans who built the fanbase of this JV and didnt join from the inception of the new identity. So its fine to bag us and say we are not real fans, but when you have gone through what a lot of us have, its a deflating feeling watch the remnsnts of your team disintegrate. So go on your rants all you want but our opinions and emotions about our respective teams are valid. Its not an us vs them thing either because not once have I bagged western suburbs. We both needed each other at the inception but now its obvious there are either wests fans or wests tigers fans. Apparantly you arent allowed to be a foundation fan despite the NRL and the JV use this as a selling point for jerseys, games, and apparel. Flame on all you want but just because your a fan of the JV after the inception dont bag the fans who made it possible in the first place.

Where do you get off questioning my loyalty to my former club

I supported Wests for 25 years and got to see the play live 4 times and never saw them win live

Why do you need some sort of connection still to the club would be my question ??

They are still there , same as Wests still are

But they are very much ancient history as far as the NRL goes

As I've said 4 times in the last 24 hours

The name won't change , it can't change The NRL owns the name

So for all the old Balmain and Wests supporters scared they will lose their identity , it can't happen

I know they said dinosaurs had small brains , but I never realized how small and they had memories like goldfish

Why do Balmain lose voting rights? They have delivered the money to their partner. Where that money has come from is irrelevant. If I'm in partnership with Joe Blow and I borrow money from my mum to pay my share in that partnership, then the money is paid and Joe Blow has no right to takeover my rights as he has received the money….I just don't get it. This should have nothing to do with the wests side at all...it's between Balmain and the NRL. Things change if Balmain can't pay it back, but until that happens I can't see how the lose voting rights on a legal basis....someone enlighten me

I can understand HawaiinTiger's viewpoint, I can understand his hurt.

Most of the responses are uncalled for.

Some of his points are pretty accurate really. How many members do we have? About 10,000? I personally don't think we can afford to lose one.

I'm still here and I am a proud Balmain guy. My old man was born in Balmain. Not every Wests or Balmain fans came on board after the JV. Not all fans will stay if one JV partner or the other disappears either. Their decision based on their opinion.

But I acknowledge their right to their opinion.
Happy Tiger will jump ship if the CQNRL bid is successful. Just wait and see lol.

I think you'll find it's what Balmain agreed to with the NRL…to get said for mentioned loan Sirro....

As security for the loan, the NRL have been given effective control of a new-seven man board. Three of the directors will be independent, NRL-nominees.
Balmain and Western Suburbs will both have two directors, but Balmain’s delegates will be unable to vote until their share of the money is repaid, giving the NRL a 3-2 majority for now.

Well seeing that I made the last response I'll reply if that's OK CQ (well I hope I haven't put your nose out of joint because its not within your time frame of replying to a post )

Mosts Wests fans from my era went through hell and back as supporters

But people need to move on from the Wests and Balmain stuff No matter whther you supported Balmain for one week or since 1908

I really can't believe that people can't see the harm it is causing this clubs by fans holding on too there loyalties to the past

Keep them in your heart and mind yes , but to drag them into the WT's future is killing the club

If (or when )Wests and or Balmain die it will be for the best for the future of the WT's

And if we lose 3000-4000 fans for this to happen I just couldn't care anymore

The benefits will far outweigh the cons , trust me

Why do the dinosaurs continually try and hold the club to ransom for ??

I'll tell you why , self importance , that's why

I'd say u are right Geo but I don't get why the NRL would want that unless their big plan is for Balmain to die, then turn their attention to relocating Wests.

I can't help but feel the NRL is pulling a massive grub act on the club and all Wests Magpies, Balmain Tigers and Wests Tigers supporters are going to get screwed. Might take a few years but I think we are currently supporting the future Perth team

What's required is for the new board to get the Wests Tigers back on track as a business. A winning team will be the result and then watch the fans flock back, plus new fans as well. I followed Wests for forty years but now I'm a fanatical Wests Tigers man and I would still be even if Wests Magpies went broke following some disastrous "business" decisions - just as Balmain have done.

I see no reason for anyone who is a Wests Tigers fan to walk away.

You see I don't see that Balmain made a disastrous business decision. I see that events out of their control have conspired to spoil their plan but the goal of wanting to build a bigger more modern leagues club was a solid one.

Let's watch now as the Roosters try and build 2 x multi-storied buildings in a low rise area. I just hope that their council help them out better than Leichardt council have.

@Happy,how are you today,I have to agree with you on the Wests and Balmain stigmas,I stated to Geo earlier we MUST move on and yes, respect the past but embrace the future is what Geo said, until they both Wests and Balmain stalwarts let go,then we will forever be arguing the same garbage everytime.I myself was a stern Balmain boy but I now support the Wests Tigers 100 percent it is the only way to survive,I also have very fond memories of the Balmain players and the club that was,but we must move on….

A wise old man once told me ...never go over ploughed ground....

Cheers Happy......

I apologize for the anger , but I'm sick of telling fans that the Wests Tigers name can't change and no one can change it

So its stays 50/50 even if off field its doesn't appear so

Actually CQ I'm heading up your way on Friday , can you organize someone to unlock the gates to the asylum

Happy I think CQ is the gatekeeper at the asylum….
