Balmain or Wests Tigers?

Did Marshall came to WT because of Sheens?
Marshall was arguably the best thing happen to WT ever, he made everyone world beater including Fitzhenry and Lawrence.
Sheens also recruited excellent players like Hodgson, Prince, Laffranchi, Whatuira, Payton, Richards and promoted Farah very early.
But later, Sheens lost his magic touch, started picking players out of position, and arguably his worst decision - not to find #7 to replace Prince :imp:
 
I'm just as annoyed by Roach calling the Tigers games on Fox, gets half the names wrong and offers nothing of any real insight.
Agree with the general sentiment though, they have no real stake in the club as it is now and their opinion should be treated as an outsiders perspective, no different to you or me.

Roach, Sirro and Benny are Tigers legends, of that there can be no doubt. Balmain Tigers legends. No-one has ever referred to them as Wests Tigers legends as far as I know. No big deal when they are referred to as Tigers' legends.
Look at St George Illawarra for example, you don't see people kicking up a stink when they refer to Reg Gasnier, Raper, Langland's etc as Dragons legends. Or when the boofhead media refer to the Dragons of today as having won 20-odd premierships, no they bloody well haven't they have won 1.

Surely people can get over the Balmain/Wests pettiness in regards to what players from our club's parentage are referred to as. Surely?
Tigers had legends, Wests had legends. Wests Tigers have probably got Skando, Farah, Benji, Hodgo and perhaps O'Neill as legends IMO.

Every time I hear Ray Warren refer to the colour red as one of the Dragon's colours it makes my blood boil. The colour is actually Scarlet and denotes the long and famous tradition of the Illawarra rugby league. So I can understand why the Illawarra side of the JV would be unimpressed.

You must be mortified to hear the Bunnies referred to as red and green instead of cardinal and myrtle! :smiley:
 
The Illawarra side of their JV is nonexistent.
Except for the fact they provide a nursery for future Dragon's flogs.
The Steelers were my 2nd favourite team, they got absolutely shafted in that takeover, much like the Bears. Would love to see Illawarra and Norths combine in the future, they got done over by Dragons and Manly.

Captain coach of the Roos.
But….he never won a comp. Just like Elias and Roach.
 
I recall a conversation I had with a former country footballer who took me to an under age game in the Illawarra. He said watch this kid this team. I did, he wasn't particularly fast, but knew how to run a great line, could position his winger, tackle and kick goals. Anyway I was told this kid would be a big nae one day. His name was Ryan Girdler. The magic of the Illawarra still able to produce footballers such as Jack Bird and Trent Merrin.
 
We are the Balmain Tigers, we are the Western Suburbs Magpies, we are Wests Tigers. We come from Leichardt and Campbelltown.

Families are complicated.
 
Even as an old Balmain fan these clowns make me cringe whenever they're asked for an opinion.

Sirro was my idol and now I even find myself losimg respect for him.

If I may digress as I am often asked what is the final outcome of that $23.5M debt? Was the whole deal going through necessary for the debt to be absolved? The whole deal did not eventuate so? Is it still with the Club? Who is the land title of the Club with?

Pretty much it, they just didn't have the same history in the game as St George and cannot compare, so a takeover was inevitable.

The Wests Tigers are the only real JV in the comp today because both foundation clubs had an equal history and both will continue to fight tooth and nail to keep it that way.
 
Elias, Roach, Siro and Jack are glory hounds who can't avoid the spotlight. In 05 they were in the dressing room after the gf making it all about themselves and how it made up for 89\. Wayne Pearce carries himself well, the rest of the Balmain legends are vile, attention seeking vermin.

Considering he played 200 games for the club and won a premiership in 2005 Chris Heighington has to be a club legend. Look what we done to him as well!!!!
