I've raised it before and I still think it is worth exploring.
Why don't Balmain look at a merger (not a JV but an actual merger) with Ryde Eastwood to shore up their finances for the future?
It would boost Ryde Eastwood's turnover immeasurably, especially if they re-branded the club 'Tigers' (which a merger rather than a JV would deem necessary), giving them part ownership of an NRL franchise, while the upshot for Balmain is they have a secure source of funding without losing their equity within the Wests Tigers.
I don't think their is anything constitutionally blocking it, and their formers alliance at NSW Cup Level means they have a working relationship from which to build on.
