In the Herald today ,there is ONLY 2 confirmed games there so far, no discision will be made re the other 2 until the board meets on the 30th of this month … The first 2 games only at this stage.

If WT take away games from Leichhardt this year I shall be seeking a refund. Luckily we have this pretty damn good Australian Consumer Law, I am sure there is plenty of others in my position. I have never understood the 'guaranteed $100k at ANZ logic' to move all games there when that is all you get regardless of crowd. 15,000 tickets sold at Leichhardt or Campbo min $20 each = $300k + food/drink deals etc etc. Even a crowd of 8000 x $20 is $160k, sure there is security and match day costs but couldnt imagine game day costs exceeding $50k…

Anyhoo Response from Darcy Byrne (Leichhardt Councillor)

I agree! There is nothing like a packed hill at Leichhardt Oval, so why is Wests Tigers CEO Grant Mayer trying to take away 2 of the 4 games scheduled there this year?

It now seems clear from his repeated comments in the media over the last week or so that Grant Mayer is looking for an excuse to take games away from Leichhardt Oval in 2015 and to play as little as one game a season there in the future.

This ignores the demands of the overwhelming majority of Wests Tigers fans, who want a minimum of four games a year played at Leichhardt, because the atmosphere is exceptional and the team is more likely to win enough games make the finals if they play there.

Last month the Balmain Tigers announced that they were giving up their lease over Leichhardt Oval due to financial constraints.

Subsequently Mr Mayer demanded that Leichhardt Council reproduce exactly the same hiring agreement as had existed with Balmain Tigers before he would commit to playing any games at Leichhardt in 2015.

Having now been offered precisely what he requested, Mr Mayer is still refusing to commit to playing 2 already scheduled games against Penrith and Melbourne at Leichhardt.

Many fans have ALREADY BEEN SOLD TICKETS to these games as part of membership packages.

Wests Tigers are claiming that it costs them $70 000 to play at Leichhardt Oval, this is a misrepresentation of the facts.

Under the hiring agreement offered to Wests Tigers for 2015 they would pay no hire fee at all and would collect all of the takings from the gate, use of corporate facilities and sale of merchandise.

Wests Tigers have so far refused to release information about incoming revenue for previous games at Leichhardt Oval but the truth is that after expenses they make a big profit from most games played there.

More importantly, for the Tigers to make the finals this year and satisfy the demands of our supporters, we need to play every game possible at our traditional home grounds - Leichhardt and Campbelltown.

If we miss the finals by two points because a game was taken from Leichhardt to Perth, Wests Tigers fans will be rightly dismayed.

I don't want to be critical of Grant and the Chairperson of Wests Tigers Marina Go, I think they are both doing a good job in many ways.

But for Tigers fans concerned about Leichhardt Oval being abandoned I think the wisest thing to do now is to contact Grant and Marina directly to let them we won’t give up on the Tigers spiritual home.

My dislike and distrust in Mayer grows every day.

I dont really give a stuff how a councillor thinks how our club should be run. Its the same crap from the Campbelltown clowns aswell.

The board (when it meets at the end of the month) needs to sign off on the proposal put forward by Leichhardt Council. That's the only reason that all 4 games haven't been confirmed yet!!

Stop choking on your lattes and relax !!

who cares if Balmain and Leichhardt die. Good riddance I say. They were quick to act staunch over Wests, and kick us when we were down. Now its on the other foot, they want our help. I hope Wests stamp on their throat, and slowly kill off the maggots.

Fly away you old bird, tossers like this should be suspended…....
