Barry O'Farrell our next CEO?

As I said in an earlier post, I'm sure the Board had at least a couple of suitable people in mind before they let Mayer go. And I would think that those candidates would be well versed in corporate governance, business admin and would not be a walking headline which I fear Barry would certainly have been.

Presuming he was pushed. Could have left for another offer. I suppose all will be revealed in the next few weeks.

He would make a brilliant CEO, we all know he is a Tiger man through and through. Can't see why opponents of Mayer, and I'm one, wouldn't relish his appointment.

There's just no pleasing some people, who else do you want?

Tiger through and through? He was a Bears fan who adopted WT's after the Bears got punted

Like I said there is one pleasing some people, the Bears left the comp in 1999, so I guess your suggesting any Tiger fans who use to follow another team 15 years ago are really not Tiger fans?

My biggest problem I'd that he's prepared to lie( like most politicians) to get himself off the hook when there's trouble

The thing is he didn't lie .
They asked him about something that happened a few years earlier and he told them what he remembered - when proved wrong he resigned because he believed in accountability (didn't even try and get off the hook).
Anyone who has ever been involved in the big end of town will know corporate gifts are plentiful - you would be hard pressed to remember everything .
That he forgot a 28 second phone call from 2 years earlier?
How many calls do you think the premier would take every year?
As for business forgetting him - just about any prominent politician from either party is courted by big business as soon as they're out.

Yep it's easy to forget that someone left a bottle of wine on his doorstep. And easier to forget if it's a bottle of probably the dearest wine in Australia, I can see how he'd forget that , it must happen every day,
If he had not been caught out with the lie, he would have most certainly have still resigned , because of honour
Allan Bond had a case of failing memory too , along with every politician ever caught.
" I don't recollect that happening" is the Pollies first defence for everything.
Who wants a politician running the club.
Next thing we will be resurrecting Chrise Skase. No we cant , his memory was the first thing to go too. He could Not remember where he lived

No pleasing some people? So we have to be pleased at the prospect that a crooked politician has been linked to the job?

Makes no difference to me why he left. Glad he's gone. Time for a change in that department.

He wasn't that bad TM. Humphreys makes Mayer look like Brian Canavan.

That the best you can do to deflect answering the thrust of my reply and this thread? On a scale of 1-10 for being a crooked politician he's a .25 compared to the previous government or do you prefer Obeid as Chairman? Seems your more politically motivated than what's best for the club.

Lol… Can't argue with that CB!

Actually couldn't give a rats about politics. They're all as bad as each other.

I guess that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. So, according to you there has never been a good polly in the history of Australia? Wow!!!

Don't know and don't care.

I understand the supposed candidate is a pollie, but it's not a politics topic so leave that for the politics thread.
