Three seasons with Wests Tigers and getting the spoon would make me lose passion for the game and the jersey too. He came here on fire and once again this club snuffed it out like so many before him.

I don't doubt his heart or effort. But what else I want in an nrl standard player - on what is probably a pretty decent salary - is a bit of talent to go with it.

Maybe he offers things unseen? Like he is amazing for the young guys to play with or is a great team man, but I just don't think he is a good player.

Absolutely - nothing wrong with people having opinions. However, the ref bashing and Bateman bashing is laughable. We got pumped by 58 points. Sure, Api may have been square but that doesn’t make up for the complete lack of line speed or attitude throughout that game. Bateman is a shadow of his former self when he played for the raiders but we’re the ones that offered him a contract. All he can do is turn up and try as hard as he can which is what he’s doing. And currently there is no one better to replace him with.

Bateman won't work at all next year with Laui, Galvin and Latu as our halves options. All 3 play best with hole running backrowers outside them. Bateman is an early ball backrower so he will really hinder our halves if we have him here next year.

Getting rid of Bateman and replacing him with a wholehearted hole runner is absolute critical to us improving.

If we can offload Bateman, Tumeth and Matamua, we can look to add a couple of hungry hole running backrowers to compete for that right edge. Ethan Bullemor would be great for Galvin. Ethan and someone else, like Matatuia, some have said he is going great in England. Those 2 could fight it out and the best man gets the spot while the other plays reserve grade.

If he is still here next year he should play as a middle (prop/lock) coming on after 20 min the issue there is he is not a ball player so depends on what style of play Benji wants his lock to play ?
I do like his attitude.

Oh how quick things can change.

Remember the hype around our forward d pack with the signings of Pap, Klem and Bateman. We had one of the better packs but as players at Wests Tigers do best, they all go backwards.

Bateman should play beside Galvin & be his personal bodyguard in defence. One of the few Tigers that doesn't get bullied. His defensive efforts are overlooked more often than not.

Galvin beside Sam Fainu has resulted in bad reads & exposing both in defence.
