Bayley Sironen to make debut...

artice in tele today from siro senior saying his thankful of cleary for giving bayley a game at tighers because his gonseski next years and sounds like no more siro's at tighers from next year

Where's he going? Manly or undecided?

If he's gone next year it's a pointless exercise playing him. Have a look at someone who will be a wests tiger in 2018

I'll have a stab in the dark and blame the 2nd tier salary cap.

Really like how the young guys are getting a chance. Good luck Bayley

Clearly is well known for giving young kids a chance and developing many of them into excellent first grade players. I seem to remember he was the one that gave Shaun Johnson a crack in first grade, amongst countless others.

its for the history/culture type thing. Giving the last siro a chance to play for the tigers. Given a season shot not too bad i guess

This.
A token gesture for all 3 Sirros to play for the Tigers at top level… Was always about this

Chances are it would be Marshall King getting his debut if we weren't at the edge of the second tier salary cap would it not?

Can someone explain how this 2nd tier cap works? I don't understand this post. Why can we not field anyone from our squad?

Probably true Ink and Nucky. We are the Wests Tigers so many won't share this one game act of synergy. I would still have given it to someone who may have benefitted the Wests Tigers( full title intentional).

Yep so I received the info today that this situation has been forced.
The Tigers had no choice but to play him due to Bayley being in the top 25\. Much like Rankin last year.

Bayley was told earlier this year he is not in the plans for the future and is free to look elsewhere.

Each time a player from outside the top 25 plays a game in first grade it counts towards the 2nd tier salary cap.
It isn't measured against a total amount of players outside the top 25 that play that year it is a total amount of games from the combined number of players that play from outside the cap.
I'm not sure what the figures are but consider this as an example.
Team A plays 1 player from outside the 25 for every game of the year totalling 26 games.
Team B plays 25 players from outside the top 25 for one game each for the season, totalling 25 games.
Team A has in fact spent more out of their 2nd tier salary cap than what Team B has.

My post was in relation to Marshall King or Jack Wheelhouse, being a better hooker or utility option than Bailey Sironen and one would thought either would be the next call up for Hooking injuries.
But because the player needs to come from within the Top 25 it isn't to be.

Thanks mate. Greatly appreciated!

Went OK, but looked ordinary really.
Some players on debut just look like first graders, I didn't get that feeling about Bayley.

JT wouldnt have played him, Cleary did (even with the second tier cap). Hats off to Cleary. It doesnt hurt to foster a little goodwill and paint it as history/tradition, particularly with nothing to gain.

FWIW I thought he looked committed last night. REally looked like he wanted to put in. If he had his brothers size or if Curtis had that kind of effort/committment, they would be worthy of their surname on a Tigers jersey

His best play was over running Littlejohn which forced him to pass to Watene-Zelezniak to score so I give him a try assist..

Was solid if not spectacular in defence..hopefully Taylor is back next week..not a fan of just handing out jersey's for the feels…

I thought he was solid and whilst not spectacular; did not look out of place.
(Lol…just read post above...I honestly had not read it before typing :laughing🙂

I'm actually very surprised at how good this kid went. I'd think we might have kept him on a lower contract in State Cup. If effort was anything to go by, he got a 10/10 from me. I'm sure like some race horses, you just have to persist and they come into their own eventually.

Obviously Coach has seen far more from him than I, and we did play a crappy warriors in a meaningless match, but he didnt disgrace himself at all.

By all reports he was the type player that always went hard and put in. However next year he will will have about 6 names in front of him for an NRL game here, so you can see why he went.
