Beau Ryan

But you do tactically shift to compensate for a better opponent.

Maybe we would have covered him better in the original defensive structure.

What was more damaging for him. Being dropped or playing averagly and putting up a bomb and chase that let Hayne make 65 metres?

:unamused: so you knew he was going to do that before the game then?

sure, he was more exposed due to injuries and how the game went, but sheens isnt nostradamus.

only point i make is that if you play well you deserve to retain your spot - not get dropped after a good debut because you might not play well…

Fair enough.

I disagree on the methodology but can see where you are coming from.

My theory is that you blood a fringe player against a weaker team. Give him a taste and than let him go back to his grade.

Different philosophies but both valid in one way or another

So in that theory comes the flipside. Sheens SHOULD drop underperforming players….YEAH RIGHT.

Well what do you think of the Simon Dwyer situation? Played a few solid games in 1sts. Fast-tracked from NYC. Then put back down after "solid" performances.
