Ben Ross?

I think an experienced 1 year signing would be nice as BMM and Groat and to a lesser extent Woods (who i think will be NRL ready next year) develop into consistent first graders.
Bell will fill that role to a degree, but Ross or someone similar who misses out on a deal else where would be handy at the league minimum.

He's had a good season, but reckon we are covered with props via Galloway, Groat, BMM, Blair, Woods, Bell, Begovich.

BTW does anyone really know where we are at with the salary cap? People on here seem to talk with some authority about it but unless i am missing something it is a non-public, complex and very dynamic beast.

Still think we need a prop & Ross is only on a second tier contract with Souths & would be a good backup, & he does hit the line nice & hard & has a go.

Adam Blair and Matthew Bell were signed in place of Fifita and Gibbs. I think the rest of the forwards spots will be filled by those already in the club.

Here's hoping we never go so bad we need to sign South Sydney second stringers.
No to Ross and double no to Wesser

old, past it and injury prone, absolutely no reason to sign him.

He has played every game this year, and got better each week,so he may be 30,but he has stayed on the field more than all our props this year and played quite well.

Sign him up. At the right price he'd be very good for us. I don't think half you blokes have even seen him play this year.. started off shaky in his first few games, but over the past 3 months he has been very strong. Regulary makes 100+ metres, strong defender, doesn't miss many tackles. Plays hard, nothing fancy, just tucks it under the arm and carts it up.

In answer to some people suggesting we should buy Ben Ross so he can help guide players like Groat, Woods and co. I have one question for you guys, what would Ben Ross bring to the table that Keith Galloway (State Of Origin Rep), Adam Blair (NZ Vice Capt, Premiership winner and world class prop) Gareth Ellis (Best Back Rower in the World.) cant in helping develop Groat and Woods?

We've already picked up a guy like that in Matt Bell.

I would say a genuine Well thats easy Chris. A genuine replacement proven at NRL level week in week out were one of the players mentioned were to cop an injury.

Hopefully a signing similar would also guarantee that Blair would play backrow exclusively as it adds to the depth of our stocks.

Once we get past Keith and Matt Bell our actual on the ground experience is diabolically thin for props.

Apparently unsigned for next year…IMO has had a steady year for the Rabbitohs and would be a handy pickup and not too expensive....given we have lost Gibbs and Payten alot of experience is leaving the club...Ross could be a handy pickup...Agree??

Definitely. Looks like he is fit, played 8 Origins…I'd take him.

To come back from the injury problems he's had shows the sort of of guts and determination that I would love to have instilled in our young forwards!

He looked good yesterday but you'd think someone like him could line himself up with a nice ESL retirement package. I'd be surprised if his next contract was for peanuts at his career stage but if he came cheap I'd be more than happy to take him.
