Went to school with him and a cousin of mine is very close mates with him. Apparently his brothers are playing Japanese Rugby and he was offered a contract but stayed here. Played a few games with him at school and he is certainly getting better with age. May be a few years off grade though, but I hope he makes it one day, always was a nice kid who loved his footy.

BEN SAUNDERS RISES TO HOOKING CHALLENGE

Wests Tigers NYC Coach Todd Payten says hooker Ben Saunders has been one of the main reasons why his side has started the season strongly.

Having being caught behind Pat Politoni last season, Saunders has been very impressive in the opening three weeks of the competition and has held off the challenge of former Gundagai Tigers rake James Luff. Wests Tigers have won two of their three games.

Payten feels Saunders (pictured) - who scored two tries in the win over St George-Illawarra last Friday night could even handle the pressure of the NRL should the smart dummy half get a call up in the near future.

Back-rower Liam Fulton might be wearing the number 9 jersey of suspended hooker Robbie Farah against Canberra at Campbelltown Sports Stadium this Monday night but in Politoni (NSW Cup), Saunders and Luff, Wests Tigers have several exciting options at hooker if required.

“Ben is going really well. He has been our best player or close to it every week,’’ Payten said.

“I’ve been impressed with his work ethic in and around the ruck, his talk and his wrestle.

“Ben directs the forwards around well and understands the game plan.

“He doesn’t talk rubbish and leads by example. I can see him playing first grade.”

lets not get to carried away weve beaton two teams that have not won games we struggled to beat saints and manly amnly lead us for quite a while even though we won easy inthe end and manly got 78 past them in there last game .politini is the better player. we see how they go against better oppents starting monday.
