Bench and half back verse souths

IMO these are the 2 glaring things that are costing us at the moment so lets put our thinking caps on and come up with something that someone with oh lets say 600 games experiencce SHOULD come up with

7\. Taumata - made his return last week will get another game this week so he will have fitness on his side, great ball runner and solid passing and short kicking game

14\. Flanagan - Done nothing wrong, has been one of our best all year can fill the utility role as well
15\. Fifita - Devestating forward, gives great impact
16\. Payten - Can play front and back row equally effective and at this stage of his career is a bench player but a darn good one
17\. Moors -When given game time this year i think hes been very good when used on the edges and not a bang em up front rower

there are other issues like fitzy being in the side but thats been done to death and its obvious it wont change, but if this bench is named to play souths we are in with a show again and i think taumata will do the job required at 7, i dont think lui will be back by next game so this is a great opportunity for arana

Flanagan and Moors offer very little as far as impact go. Moors has had very little impact off the bench this season and Flanagan is just getting out muscled by bigger fowards from the oppostion. Not doubting his courage but there is really not much of him which is not a positive as we already have a pretty small pack.

Sheens wants Lui at 7, which i guess we should all pray to the heavens above he wants a halfback in the halfback position.
Where he will play taumata if they are both fit is beyond me.

I really think Mullaney has to be considered for FB - yea i know he is small and inexperienced but he plays the modern style of FB - comes up and plays in the line, can pick gaps, reads yhe game well. Ryan has done a good job but he is beginning to look just like a winger who is filling in - we are missing the extra man in the line who can do somrthing with the ball, he rarely runs in to gaps off Benji or Robbie - slot him back on the wing and yes that means Fitzy goes.

I reckon they should try Taumata at halfback.

Interchange: Flanagan, Moors, Payten, Fifita.

I definately agree that Arana should get a run this week, think he should be second in line to Moltzen. In regards to Moors on the bench I think we would be better off putting another prop on the bench like David Fifita. As boonboon made the point we do not need another second rower as the can all play 80 minutes and we alreadyhave Flanagan on the bench.

You want 3 front rowers on the bench

Lui is another manufactered 1/2 so is Taumata they are both 5/8's ..Moltzen wasn't a 1/2 either …I think Taumata would be the better overall performer with his defence but reality is we still came into this season with no organising 1/2 and the bench don't want to go there. The writings on the wall it's going to be a long season unless someone steps up to the plate in the 1/2 position and quick.

As much as I reckon Beau Ryan has done an admirable job at FBI reckon we are missing the role of the FB hitting holes and playing that supporting role…So I reckon we should have Tamauta or Mullaney at FB with the latter kicking goals!!!.
At Half we should have Tamauta or Lui.. Ryan on wing with Lote..in my view Tamauta has to be in the starting team somewhere!

I would go with

Fafita
Payten
Flanno
Moors

Seems like a very popular bench after scanning this thread!

I would also leave Farah at Half unless Lui is fit. We need to keep a halves combo going for a while hopefully for the rest of the season imo our best is Lui/Benji.
I would drop Fitzy to Bret and replace him with Ryan.
The Fullback option is the hard one, Beau for some reason will not run the ball back in a straight line he keeps trying to do a Marshall style step and run sideways just like Fitzy and its costing us!
So for fullback I would insert Taumata or Mullaney not sure we just need a fullback that runs the ball back straight makes a few metres and gets tackled.

Agree with you RB that Sauvao and Mullaney are very bright prospects - both looked great on Sunday. Neither of them is ready for 1st grade yet tho. Would hate to see them promoted and get smashed

Where does this rubbish come from that Taumata and Moltzen are manufactured halves? Taumata can and has played both positions in juniors, NRL and New Zealand Maori and Moltzen has played both in junior football and NRL level. They can both play either 7\. or 6…...FACT!
