Bench use...

I have mentioned this before...but it is a legitimate issue.

He has the players play set mins...they all come on / off same time each week barring injuries.

He never adjusts to the flow of the game.

Today it was really clear we were on the back foot badly the first 30 mins...Parra pack dominating, yet zero adjustments.

Amone brought on down 6-32...just pointless. Why even carry an extra big if you are going to sit them there until 20 to go / game is gone each week?

It was really, really obvious Parramatta's pack was dominating, yet Madge simply will not adjust to the flow of the game.

Big Luc falls off tackles every week 25 min mark on...why not give him a spell? He is out on his feet and his edge has leaked a try almost every week all season around the 25-35 min mark.

Why not play him 25 first / 25 sec...Taulomolo mins.

Our props were completely dominated early exchanges...no reaction.

Why not see we are being physically dominated and send on bench power whilst the game is still there?

Madge just never adjusts to the flow of the game.

No, I don't want him gone. But I do think we desperately need an assistant with some footy IQ who is in charge of the bench use / judges the momentum of games.

Maumalo to left wing, Nofo right wing, Roberts to the bench so he can replace Nofo on the wing for the last 8 minutes of the game. Bench issue solved.

Tamou 53 meters ...completely dominated by Parra. They smashed him.

Amone 47 meters in way less mins.

Why not see Tamou was not up to it today and adjust?

Don’t know why you got down voted.
You pose a fair question.
The coach talks about ebs and flows yet doesn’t use his bench effectively to manage them.

I am admittedly in the Madge out camp for purely tactical reasons such as this.

He evidently doesn't have a great roster but I honestly think he makes it worse for himself with his tactical decision making regarding bench use and selection choices.

Just don't think he'll learn and I agree that maybe the assistants aren't of the highest quality either.

**Example one:**

Big Luc missed SIX tackles today...most at the end of halves. He gets tired.

Blore has missed ONE tackle in FIVE games...ONE. All season.

Why not give Blore 20 mins extra so that we have a defensive presence out there?

I know LL offers attack, but you can't keep carrying the missed tackles 30-40 min mark half time every game.

**Example two:**

RCG has monstered Tamou for multiple games now. Today he went for almost 100 m more than his old Panther's mate. Why not realise Tamou is badly matched up and get him off once it is clear RCG is dominating? Or even put him on the bench and start someone who can match RCG physically?

Nofo injured???

To be fair today Garner, Nofa, Douehi, Laurie, Joffa all went off with injuries. Its hard to argue with 5 unexpected interchanges that we could do much more

Agree with this. Not saying it cost us the game - theyre clearly better than us in the forwards - but had to try and change momentum earlier.

Think Blore needs to start on the edge, helps us physically at the start of games. Missed Mikaele today too. Think Tamou not far from being a bench player.

But have to ask if our middles will be able to match them next year - if not need to purchase better.

Madge gets blurred vision when his blood pressure rises .
Tamou is shit .. I told everyone this when we signed him but everyone shouted me down 😂

True, but most of those were late.

As you know, Madge has set mins...

Roughly:

One prop goes off about 25...

first mobile comes on after 25

second one comes on around the 35 min mark

17th man gets the final 20 mins.

It does not change whether we are 12-8 up or 28-0 down....barring injuries.

It would be nice to adjust based on the flow / momentum of a game. I think everyone could see Parra were manhandling us first 30 today.

The original post is on the money. Rotation has been robotic all year with no feel for the game.

Parramatta pack has monstered teams all year and the made a number of our forwards look ordinary

Let's put it down to 2 lucky wins. Reality is that the truth about Madge is out there...

I said this last week, get some perspective on the win, Penrith had 8 top liners out, but no the party was in full swing, I was a hater

Madge is stuck in 2014, the game has passed him by, and he seems no hope of catching back up

Nothing in the bench rotation for us die-hard, desperate fans - we all wanted Blore there from the outset after sitting Brown down last year but we had to twiddle our thumbs over and over and over waiting for Blore to appear

That's why bringing in a coach whose best years were in the 90's and early 2000's is sheer genius (sheenius). Things that old are generally retro and have worked their way back into fashion.

Couldn’t agree more re your comments on Luciano. I’d play him in 20 min bursts and ask him for some agro, if it’s not in him then ‘next’
