Benji 2025 and Beyond

just say Benjie is sacked tomorrow ,who is the replacemant ,and what benefits will the optics of sacking another coach, again,so soon have,Richo is good ,yet he couldnt hose the crap of that 1

Yes I was. I was furious at the appointment of Sheens and absolutely disgusted that Benji was just gifted this job because he said he wanted it.
I got in many, many fights on here venting about both these decisions.

That is poor coaching. We did not need to debut so many young blokes.

He wanted them

Only Luai has had a good year out of all them this season.

So what? Still came last and got flogged in front of our sold out home crowd by a weakened side with the equal worst defence in the comp, after having 2 weeks to prepare for it.

Been hearing that shit for 13 years.
I don’t believe it until I see it.
Do you really believe that sacking a coach in his first year is the right move?

There’s ex coaches floating around and others who would drop a super league contract to be in the NRL should we tap them.
I agree the optics aren’t great but Marshall has been a coach here for 2 seasons now and both have been fcking disasters.
He claimed we focused on defence this year….I’ll post some stuff soon that proves this was our worst defensive season out of the 25 years that this club has existed. We’ve had some terrible teams over the past quarter of a century and this one is the worst defensively.
It’s not good enough.

its a weird mix of Sheenius ,newage n god knows what,i see no reason to sack a coach that hasnt performed this year when no other coach has got us in the 8 since jesus was a boy.and the reason i think it will work in the long run is apart from the 1st sentence above is that Richo is instilling across the board that Benjie is the man ,with a weilding power in the club(optics, who gives a rats} as long as they can make the up n coming kids believe in the retric ,fk i'll flog that horse into the ground because it is a plan and its more believable then whats been served up previously.

He’s been here 2 years with 2 of our better teams of the past 13 years and came dead last with both.
Make no mistake, he is on thin ice.

People realise we conceded 60 points tonight right? Besides Luai, I don’t see how anyone we have signed are better than anyone we are losing. Of course people will look at the glass half full and convince themselves otherwise, but the track records of what happens to players when they both leave the club and arrive is well known. And as good as Luai is (and he’s very good), he’s not going to fix us leaking 50 and 60 points. Dare I say, the only ones who can do that are the coach and his assistants. And God help us In that department.

Also, can I address the absolute BS of “We just need to give it another year”. Why? If you acknowledge it’s not working out, why do we need to persist with it? Because the optics would be terrible? Well guess what. that’s a consequence of making terrible decisions. You make them, and you have to own them. If we didn’t make wrong decision after wrong decision, time after time (With the exception of Madge. That was straight out BS) we wouldn’t need to make ourselves look like jackasses. This is another decision we have to own, Richo at least can take solace in the fact he had nothing to do with hiring BenjI. Which reminds me, ask yourself, as good of an administrator Richo is, would he have hired Benji? That’s very different to publicly backing him after he arrives. Anyway, the club has a lot to consider if they want to persist with him. Like has been previously mentioned, we have some serious talent that we could build the club around for the next decade. But as if they are going to stick around if we keep losing. You think Galvin will will think twice about leaving if the Roosters come calling? Get real. He might not either way, but he’s far more likely if we‘re still floundering.

I think people heavily underestimate just how big an effect our injuries/suspensions have had this year. Used 37 or 38 players (plus used over 50 in NSW Cup). Debuted 12. Regularly had 4-5+ teenagers in our 17. Very rarely had the same combinations week to week, particularly in the backline where having consistent combinations week to week is so incredibly important.

Those types of numbers are pretty much unheard of and any team would struggle with that. What makes it seem so much worse is because its on the back of 2 other spoon seasons.

Defensively we obviously have a lot of work to do (which can be fixed very quickly...just look at Canterbury) but ive seen enough this year to suggest we're really not far away from being a really competitive team, particularly if we can get some luck with injuries. Call me crazy but i truly do believe we'll be a top 8 team within the next 2 years.

you made a good point there .Would Richo have signed Benjie - no way in hell he would - but it is what it is,call me a simpleton but a coach in nrl is not some messiah that whispers magic into their ears, they are professionals that shouldnt need 2b motivated or be trained on how 2 catch or pass, most have done it all their lives,as they have rode a bike 1;s or twice. from my experience a productive workplace has minimal input from on high just small tweaks from just above-the playing group needs to sort the output of productivity, the management is there to iron out the bumps, a happy work place is productive,fk ive lost interest in the Back A Benjie cause, have a good offseason GNR4LIFE c u around the traps.stay safe be good

Everyone needs to watch the melbourne storm game against the broncos Thursday night.

Bellamy was losing his shh’t when the storm dropped the ball or made an error in the 70th minute when they were up
By 50 points and had won the minor premiership.

The commentators were saying how special Bellamy is bc he cares about every single play regardless of the score which makes his teams great.

Benji - told the players to just play what you see and have fun.

That’s the difference. He’s a terrible coach bc he wants the players to be happy so they play well. Unfortunately coaching is more than that.

He needs to go immediately!
