Benji 2025 and Beyond

Gotta admit I’m concerned by some of Benji’s comments in the last presser of the year… his message to the team was to “go out and play footy”…. In other words play touch footy and bugger defending… well they followed his instructions to the letter… too bad we couldn’t quite score 70 points to get the W…. Benji obviously doesn’t take or emphasise defence seriously…unless he has a massive shift of HIS mindset… we will come last again in 2025….
He has no idea.

I'd love one person to explain to me what Benji has shown in his year and a half of coaching the team that makes you believe he will be the answer. Anyone?
the kids got better as the year went on -an it just seemed/stats will probably tear me 2 shreds(go 4 ya lives)they came out in the 2nd halve;s put on points, ala Sheens reign,
i see no point in switching another coach out -so soon-for all us over 40 yr olds in the work force do you have any idea what the hell the kids r thinking these days -point being the team coming thru kinda know of Benjies playing career, have some respect 4 the man ,n the coach mixing it up in opposed sessions n still kickin rc,thats surely better than a Madge goin old school shoutin abuse tell em how crap they are,or Tommy punishing them ,5 more times up the hill or no pub 4 u

We knew he had 0 experience when he was made coach. It's really crazy to sack him after 1 year

Dogs 2023
For: 438
Against: 769
W/L: 7/17

Tigers 2024
For: 463
Against: 750
W/L: 6/18

Both first seasons as head coaches
12 years vs 0 years
So what is your point?
I see the experienced coach doing well. If you think Benji will achieve the same I feel sorry for you.

I remember when i was 10, the last thing my coach told me and my teammates every time before we ran out was “No matter what guys, just have fun”. Telling that to 10 years olds is a good thing. Telling professionals earning hundreds of thousands of dollars a year just to go out and play, not so much. I think Luai on 1.2 million needs a bit more of an authoritative message than that.

Why not, he has unfinished business with us and would understand the clowns who were running things are now mostly gone, it's not the same club it was 5 years ago.
Not the same club, but same results. And think of it as an ego thing. Kind of like a girl dumping you, then 3 years later, she comes crawling back. There is a sense of feeling better off without her. Plus, he has a pretty sweet gig with NSW. It’s not gonna happen.

Were you against the appointment of Benji when he was first hired? Because he had no experience back then too. My point is that it would be a mistake to sack benji after his 1st year considering:

-we used 37 players this year, 12 of those players were debutants
-benjis assistants were Farah, Heighno (neither have coaching experience) and John Morris.
-extremely young squad, under performing senior players being moved on
-incoming Benji signings include Luai, Turuva, Skelton, Hunt, Bird, Horsburgh (likely)
-we still won 2 more games than last year, performed about on par with 2023 Bulldogs

With an improved roster & coaching staff we'll go a lot better next year. Benji deserves at least one more.

Yes I was. I was furious at the appointment of Sheens and absolutely disgusted that Benji was just gifted this job because he said he wanted it.
I got in many, many fights on here venting about both these decisions.

That is poor coaching. We did not need to debut so many young blokes.

He wanted them

Only Luai has had a good year out of all them this season.

So what? Still came last and got flogged in front of our sold out home crowd by a weakened side with the equal worst defence in the comp, after having 2 weeks to prepare for it.

Been hearing that shit for 13 years.
I don’t believe it until I see it.
