At the awards night it was interesting that Benji thanked Ivan for bringing him back and didn't mention Madge at all. Again Maguire loses the dressing room so it would be a brave club to extend his contract when players are going backwards and recruitment of top players is non existent during his 2 years.

Benji can’t help himself bring up Old habits

I’m happy with this outcome. Previously we would sack the coach. Although there was the one time the club called his bluff which resulted in the superstar playing rugby union.
We can handle Madge getting some negative remarks from a few deputies during the near future.
I’m backing Madge because I believe he wants to win.

Edit, I believe he needs to win.

I believe if we keep Madge for the next 2 years this club will be on another level in regards to making finals football..he maybe a hard taskmaster but its a hard game where toughness, stamina and skill are at the highest peak..Madge knows how to win a premiership and he wants to win one at the WTs ...

Agree True, I know drill sargents don’t stay too long in the one spot, but I’m one of those people who think Madge is more than that. It’s essential to have a fit hard team first and foremost. It’s also essential, if we want to win that we have stability , both in the playing squad and coaching/training team. With that in mind, I would like Madge around for the next 5 years.

The worst one was Warren Ryan , say what you will but how many GFs did that bloke get his teams to, let alone win .

And it’s not like Craig Bellamy is a softy . He’s a drill sergeant as well. Also it turns out Madges biggest critic , Old Sammy boy , yea ,not that good of a bloke . And the dude who knives him , is not that good of a coach . Really the issue was roster regeneration, he was caught in a period between 2 generations . Bill Belliceck , just casts players off as soon as he THINKS they’re past it .
To me Madge seems like he’s getting through to the right players , and the others , arnt that great anyway .

This thread has kind of turned towards Madge a bit it seems. Best it focuses on the other bloke that absolutely loves the club.

Was that’s a pro Marshall thing ? If so , yep he loves the club , but we haven’t won in 10 years . So how about we back the hardliners defensive approach . I mean truely back it , not until times get tough so we bag the coach so we return back to the rubbish ab lib doesn’t stuff that has defined us for the last 17years .which doesn’t win football games anymore

Fully agree with your last couple of posts

Out with the good old boys club that cry when it's too hard and in with the new hard tough WT team that believe in the coach that believes in them

We will all enjoy watching our tigers rip in every week than

I have faith in Madge, if we miss on JAC I have no faith in management

Benji will always be a champion, once in a lifetime player, for me.
Sadly, his finish wasn't the Leichhardt Oval fanfare that would have been best, and maybe his own choices now are not for us to know why.
I just wish him well.

Well said. Those sorts of jobs are much, much harder than they look. I'd like to think it's the reason very few people succeed at them.

You guys know you’ve been trolled right ?

You mean someone from the Club reads our comments?
It would be silly not to think that there is club figures online that review some feedback, how else are they going to get ideas to better run the club.

How else? They could open up a fan survey on their
website, that's how. I know that coud easily be exploited by trolls pretending to be fans.

An alternative could be a survey of members whereby you have to authenticate your resonses by use of your membership number?

There's lots of ways if they really felt the thoughts or opinions of fans was important enough to consider.

Or, they could choose to follow the V'landys method and institute changes that change rugby league forever on the basis of listening to "feedback from the fans without ever getting feedback from the fans".

They just have to say they did. Enough fools will believe it and feel empowered.

Was it Jack Gibson who said "once you start listening to the fans ......"

It was always rumoured/talked about that certain player's had too much say about how the club was run

Those players would whinge about the coach the training methods etc and the coach would be matched out the door

Benji was one

Fatah another

Moses etc

Now the coach pulls the reins not the player's so the player's are either on board with the coach or they are out the door

The way it should be

Meanwhile....

Benji could be at the Sharks next year...he wants everything on the table and see what he will do...said he feels that he wants another year in the NRL and still has plenty to offer...
Morris played with him at WTs and I reckon he will step out for them...has a lucrative media offer as well..

Not sure what he will do,but he seems to want another year.....

ninensm....source...

Playing at the sharks turns Benji into a journeyman.

Tarnishing both him an our Tigers

Really , is it worth it especially if he has a dud year on the park.

Whos gonna give him the send off at shark park.????
