Hi everyone

If it doesn't do any damage and Benji (and Moltzen) thinks it works and the company is putting money into the Tigers - I don't have a problem….

Tigergran

What about the people who buy this because their heroes - Marshall and Moltzen - wear it?

This is a dishonest company that is no different from a snake oil salesman and sadly two of our players are happy to assist with such dishonesty.

… i wear one... and i THINK it works...
funny how people that have them think they work...adnd people that dont, think they dont...

Its funny how there is no scientific basis to support that the bands work and that the company selling them has now agreed that there is no scientific basis.

Its funny how the Chinese medicinal principles originally claimed to support the effectiveness of the bands is a subversion of Chinese medicine and just sounded like something made up by a bunch of guys who watched a couple of jackie chan movies.

Your response demonstrates exactly why we need stronger consumer protection laws and why the consumer will never be sovereign … consumers are idiots.

Could it be true?

Have Wests Tigers ceased their business relationship with PowerBalance?

PowerBalance was listed on the Official Website as a Official Partner, but the lists have recently been updated and PowerBalance's logo no longer appears.

http://www.weststigers.com.au/default.aspx?s=official-tigers-partners

A quick check of the Source code of the webpage shows that a couple of partners' logos have been removed and there is NO trace of PowerBalance placeholders. Whilst that's not conclusive evidence, it certain is a positive sign!

Does anyone have any contacts at WT that could confirm this? PowerBalance advertising was spotted at both Cambo and LO in rounds 2 and 3 though…

If Benji keeps playing the way he is playing let him wear it!!!

post hoc ergo propter hoc buddy, post hoc ergo propter hoc

PowerBalance also sponser the NBA and a number of basketballers including Shaquille O'neal

Here is a list of athletes that endorse PowerBalance. Benji is not listed.

:wtf

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_hoc_ergo_propter_hoc

Post hoc ergo propter hoc, Latin for "after this, therefore because of this," is a logical fallacy that states, "Since that event followed this one, that event must have been caused by this one." It is sometimes referred to as false cause, coincidental correlation, or correlation not causation.
>
Post hoc is a particularly tempting error because temporal sequence appears to be integral to causality. The fallacy lies in coming to a conclusion based solely on the order of events, rather than taking into account other factors that might rule out the connection.

To put it simply:

**A** occurred, then **B** occurred.
Therefore, **A** caused **B**.

This is the logic that Swanny is using, saying that:

Benji started **wearing PB bands**, then Benji **got into great form**.
Therefore, **wearing PB bands** caused **getting into great form**.

Why is it wrong? Observe:

_I didn't fill my car up today before driving to work; I got to work without any problems.
Therefore, not filling my car up means I'll get to work fine_

We can all see the problem with that statement, in that the tank will eventually run out of petrol one day. However using Swanny's logic, not filling up the tank will see the car stay on the road. :crazy

The instant that you start to use a petrol gauge you start taking into account other variables, such as fuel tank size and consumption. Unfortunately this level of critical thinking isn't being employed by PowerBalance wearers.

One can not draw a false conclusion that the wearing of the powerbalance band resulted in Benji's form increasing. To do so flies in the face of rational, logical reasoning and is at the heart of the debate over why this product (and Benji promoting it) is fundamentally wrong.

:blah

Whatta post, Kul… lol.

Bottom line: They don't work. It's proven.
They look cool enough and Benji likes 'em.
They are over-priced, you can buy those charity wrist bands for like $2-$5
It's up to you what you do in the end, to each their own.

Don't let Kul trick you guys! He really does love the PowerBalance bands and he knows that they work! He is fighting them a little too much if you know what I mean. He just wants to brainwash all the people of the world that the PowerBalance bands don't work so they don't buy them, which will mean that there will be more for him to buy! He who controls the PowerBalance bands will control the world! Kul is a greedy criminal mastermind! My spies were watching him at the Fox and Lion before the Foundation Cup match and I was told that he was wearing 3 PowerBalance bands on each wrist! I am on to you Kul, greedy criminal mastermind!

Logical fallacy hey Kul. Sounds a bit similar to the Moltz 8 wins in the number 7 jerdey that his suppprters use to Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon all arguments on the half back debate last year. Oh you were one of them werent you?

It's simply a company dudding the consumer. They should be fined for not fully disclosing how little scientific and physical benefit their product has, whether it has a placebic effect or not is completely irrelevant.

Caveat Emptor. As I said previously, what people choose to do with their money is their business. Whether they are savvy enough to research the product before purchasing it is their perogative and they cannot hold anyone else liable for their failure to check a product's credibility.

IMO the consumer is in part to blame as well as the manufacturer.

Alot of things people buy is rubbish. Also some people buy something that costs $150 when they could buy basically the same thing for $50\. Some people just pay alot extra just to make themselves feel good. Strange but true.

It's like when I went to Spearmint Rhino last weekend.

I got a lap dance from this girl for $50\. I really liked her, so about 8 vodkas later when she asked me if I wanted the "deluxe" dance for $150, I figured it had to be worth it.

I still don't know what the difference was…

at least that argument drew its conclusions from empirical evidence, even if it was correct or not

so in that case, a hypothesis was being put forward (that the team would always win with Moltz at 7) and that theory could then be tested, after which the results could be analysed.

lo and behold, that theory proved to be incorrect. Who I am or anyone else to argue with the results?

Lol

Hungry Beast on ABC1 just had a 30 second dig at Benji Marshall endorsing PowerBalance

t'was very funny. Will try and grab it and post the link.

Just a good news update on this.

PowerBalance in the United States has just been forced to repay a total of $75mil to every customer who bought the band and wants a full refund. They have filed for some special form of bankruptcy

Happy days
