Benji Marshall Assault Charge Dismissed

I hope David Gallop doesn't stuff our season and suspend Benji if he is found guilty.

There is a precedance with Brett Stewart for allegedly bringing the game into disrepute. Just on the court matter and evidence to be presented, you dont need much proof to be found guilty in these types of offences. At the end of the day, Benji is a better human being than the person who is making the allegations.

Regardless of the result, I have never seen anyone put so much effort into society both off and on the field as what Benji Marshall has done. The man is a true hero, he is loyal, trustworthy and a champion human being in the true meaning of the word. Over the years he has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the sick and underprivillaged people of our society. He is amazing.

He is the Messiah.

Beautifully put Bug…

Update…...

Court has been adjourned while Benji and his legal defense team watch CCTV footage.

I'm amazed the footage wasn't provided to BM's legal team ahead of the hearing. That would seem to go against the rules of evidence and ettiquette… Now things are being delayed while Benji and his lawyers go and do something they could have done weeks ago. Strange.

Rugby league star Benji Marshall hit a man after being told twice by him that "Lockyer shits on you", a Sydney court has heard.
>
Marshall, 26, is accused of assaulting Soliman Naimey, 24, on Bridge Street in the CBD, just before 4am on March 5.
>
The Wests Tigers five-eighth has pleaded not guilty to assault, occasioning actual bodily harm.

Mr Naimey told Downing Centre Local Court today that he called out "[Darren] Lockyer's better than you" as Marshall was crossing Bridge Street.
>
Marshall turned around and said "What'd you say" and Mr Naimey repeated the same words, before Marshall walked back with his right fist clenched and punched Mr Naimey in the mouth, the court heard.
>
The police officer who took a statement from the alleged victim earlier told the court that Mr Naimey had told him his words were "Lockyer shits on you".
>
Mr Naimey said he was then punched by Marshall's friend - a right hook that landed on his cheek.
>
"It was a dog punch, it was cheap," he told the court.
>
At that point onlookers intervened, Mr Naimey said.
>
Mr Naimey and Marshall had eaten separately with friends at a McDonald's on the corner of Bridge and George streets in the hour leading up to the altercation.
>
Constable Brendan Rawling said he arrived at the scene, outside the McDonald's, to find Mr Naimey "moderately intoxicated".
>
His eyes were "glazed" and he smelled of liquor, but spoke coherently.
>
The court heard that Mr Naimey had spent the evening at the Tank nightclub after arriving in town with friends about 9.45pm.
>
He told the court he drank three Smirnoff Blacks, a Jager bomb and a Red Bull and vodka.
>
Under cross-examination by Geoff Bellew, SC, for the defence, Mr Naimey also said he drank a Smirnoff Black while travelling into town.
>
Constable Rawling told the court that Mr Naimey told him following the assault that he had had five Smirnoff Blacks.
>
Marshall wore a black suit with a black-trimmed white shirt and black tie to today's hearing.
>
His manager Martin Tauber and the chief executive of the Rugby League Players' Association, David Garnsey, also attended.
>
The hearing, before magistrate Carolyn Barkell, continues.

Lol

Drinking DB's on the train, attending rotten venues like Tank and drinking those drinks…

He, ladies and gentlement, is what we in the trade call "undesirable"
The term is used for a reason and this is a case in point

Maybe it was a different angle that they hadn't taken into consideration or known about
Still seems strange that they would not have been told about it though ??

Not sure. All I know is that in my previous existence, if we showed up to court relying on video footage that the defence hadn't seen before, we'd get our backsides kicked. It's seems very odd.

You might need to provide a link or some more info. My Twitter knowledge is only marginally above zero

Good Luck to Benji & his legal team (although i'm sure he won't need it).

Regardless of the outcome it won't change the fact i think he is a champion on and off the field.

I'm not much of a drinker, so could someone with more knowledge on the subject indicate how intoxicated the guy would have been based on what he said he drank? You'd think the greater his level of intoxication, the more unreliable his testimony would be considered.

Thanks.
