Benji Marshall has "gone back to the drawing board"

and Maybe while you are at the drawing board see if it has anything on it about tackling. There has been plenty of running and stepping, but most of it this year has been out of the way in the defensive line. Not worth a contract extension on the field. For marketing yes, but for the bean counters at WT, you will earn a lot more money by winning games than by extending high profile contracts and finishing last.

Didn't even bother reading the actual article, just the comments after. Never come across a team or an athlete in any sport who talks more rubbish then these bunch of primadonna's. Always realizing the error of their ways and always declaring how they know to overcome it. You could gather every one of these articles over the last two yrs and they are always saying the same thing. Bunch of blowhards

Haha true true GNR. Watching the game last Friday I actually realised that I don't really like the team anymore. If they weren't wearing the jersey …

Lets hope Potter has put it to him, and they are actually working on a structure that can work for him… even giving Siro a list of what he should be expected to achieve, although lumping someone elses problems on the young bloke could help with basic direction and possibly a bit more room.

Surely the answer is having a halfback to do everything and just letting Marshall chime in. Surely. That has to be the obvious answer. How is Sironen his foil? Sironen is a ball runner too. Same problems as years gone by. Stop being a pussy and just pick Brooks.

He's got a lot of things to work on, but the one thing that i think is an "easy win" for him would be to learn how to put up a bomb for his outside backs. How a 28 year old 5/8 who has captained his country, & won a world cup, premiership, & golden boot award, can still consistently put up bombs that go sideways, over the sideline, or even backwards, is beyond belief.

This probably applies to all the kickers in our team over the last few years, including farah and moltzen, but as our main attacking kicker benji needs to take ownership of this

Its not surprising when you look at his technique. His bodyweight and centre of gravity is all wrong. He's kicking off balance far too often and has been doing it for years.

agreed. why does it seem like neither sheens nor potter have done anything to fix this?

why's that you think? i'm the opposite, i wanna remain as steadfast as a supporter cause i know the good times might only be a small while away.

he can't even if he wanted to; salary cap is about to burst. Saw potter at the NSW cup game where brooks played; dunno who he came to see though. He rocked up about 30minutes late though

The Tigers as a team, as players used to be easy to support. They tried, were always undersized, underdogs and they played football. Now there are plodders not trying and overpaid primadonnas.

Im not suggesting its perfect, but for the time being, until we can get Anasta to try help sort it while Brooks grows into his boots, it is about all we have.

Would hate to promote young Brooks into a malfunctioning system and pick up bad habits, at least give him the chance to play in something remotely resembling structure if we can stumble across one.

Given he has no choice but to talk to media, what should Benji say?

Something that he'll actually follow through with and not recycle twice a yr would be a start

Yawn….got halfway thru

weve heard it all before

talk is cheap

Exactly what i thought….didnt bother reading it all. He has said this so many tines about running the ball and he does it for one week then goes back to not running.

The missing pearl is hunger. Without hunger there is no motivation and Benji needs to find that ASAP.

Maybe its not the answer he gives, maybe we should be asking journos for better questions.

Thats what I got when I actually read the article.

Or to be cynical..maybe Benji is trying to say what people want to hear to ensure his contract upgrade & extension goes through?

If he was doing what he was saying the journo's wouldn't have to ask these questions. He's suppose to be a superstar yet constantly produces crap. What else would be the focus for journo's?

And we come full circle don't we…what would you like him to say?

If the questions never change, the answers won't either.

Yeah we get it...he should do his talking on the field, talk is cheap, stop recycling etc etc.

So this means when Benjo runs the ball everyone else stops and watches,…..both his team mates and the defense?

The fact of the matter Benji is obviously still concerned about his toe and that will ultimately impact his running game. He is probably being brave and coming back to early but he isn't going to run with a busted toe.
