If only he could coach as good as he could playFor the many years of suffering, on the flip side we also had a pretty unique time as fans watching him do his thing in his prime. Well deserved.
I guess the gap between his best and worst was too big for him to feature in immortal discussions, but his best was as good as any who have graced a rugby league field. A freakish talent who continued to come up with the unexpected even after 19 seasons in the NRL. Certainly the best kiwi of all time, and a once in a generation player who could bring even opposition fans through the turnstiles and to their feet. His skillset set him apart from the pack.
Was he a consistantly good 5/8? No, not at all.
Despite that, he still achieved a lot and this club would not still be here had he not played for us for so long.
It is a deserved induction. Congratulations.
Can only imagine the heights he would have hit if he weren't constanly dehydrated at the tigers due to infamous gatorade famine of the 2010s.Braith was unlucky
Never forget the Warriors game in 2010 I think while Ivan was coaching them. We were down by 24 or something ridiculous and Ellis threw a freak behind the back pass for our first try, after that Benji went to school and we run them down and won.One thing about Benji when he was at his peak, I always thought we could win a game when he was on the field. It didn't matter what the score was, it wasn't over until it was over.
Its a shame he never got to play the majority of his career with a genuine 7, we could be talking about him in a higher echelon again.
Ah good memories.Never forget the Warriors game in 2010 I think while Ivan was coaching them. We were down by 24 or something ridiculous and Ellis threw a freak behind the back pass for our first try, after that Benji went to school and we run them down and won.
The true “No-look” pass.Thoroughly deserved.
