If that is exactly what went down then i applaud Benji for doing what he did, in fact i think the guy got off light with only a split lip. And i don't condone violence at all but i think most people would act the same way.

Mate not only do I condone violence….but in this instance I applaude it!

Good on Benji....I hope he got that piece of crap good.

Run to the cops?.... In my world only the lowest, pussiest, weakest, wastes of a good time do that.

I hate racists and smash them as often as possible.

You definitely have one in your corner here Benj........

Well said Stryker!!

That maccas is only a block from where I live in the rocks. I really wish I had been there to throw a few with him at these scum.

Society will go down the gurgler if blokes like this keep getting away with racist remarks. Benji embodies Australian values more than these douches!! I'm glad he taught them a lesson.

Yes lets start a V for Vendetta style attack on racists and the NRL…..really googles on...

Benji should have let his minder smash the guy....Benji's temper cost Ellis a try in the Epic semi against the Rorters remember....

Also, with the comments about him being out till 3am.

It sounds like Benji was hosting a black tie at the Four Seasons (just up the block from the maccas) for his foundation, and probably like a good host, waited till everyone else had left… which was probably 3am. It was done in conjunction with the OCF, helping kids with Cancer. From the sounds of his mum's comments, he didn't have a drink.

Probably just innocently walked down to maccas for a burger not getting a chance to eat at the function.

I'm glad he punched this douchebag in the face. I hope they put that guy on the front of the paper tomorrow.

Benji made one mistake he was out at 3am.
Players are well aware that most of the time they get into trouble is in these early hours, they must not put themselves in that situation by being out at that hour. I don't blame Benji for doing what he did in that situation but he shouldn't of been there.
When will these players wake up?
If you want to have an all-nighter go to your mates house, don't do it in public.

The highest profile player in the Nrl hosts a function and and doesn't get fed so is forced to walk down the street at 3am to get maccas. C'mon you know this didn't happen.

I wish Benji didn't punch him, but at a minimum, it is understandable…..

Given the circumstances i dont think he will be crucified in the media, the people i have spoke to (non tigers fans) seem to be reasonably supportive. Especially if reports that he tried to walk away and tried to make light of it, gees, theres not much else he can do really (that said i still wish he didn't punch him)

It sucks that he can't go for a burger or much less a beer without being targeted, but unfortunately it seems the case.
hopefully he gets a fine or less and we can move on, the curse of the face of the nrl strikes again.

I've heard the reports, I haven't read this thread but it seems to me now that there are a select few that go out of their way every year to deliberately target whoever the NRL player is representing the whole NRL into doing something foolish.

I think we need to get whole story Read a report in Daily Telegraph that after function he and girl friend and some others went for a "quiet drink" I don't know if this was true or not but I would be concerned if Benji has had a few and then hit him . This may seem stupid but if he was completely sober and popped him well at least he had full control of actions , senses etc . and acted on a clear mind If he has had a few and popped this bloke thats different . I don't condone the racial stuff at all and this guy should have the book thrown at him too for that . As I see both were at fault and should be left at that

I have hosted functions - not as big as this, though - and through trying to look after people, and make sure everything runs smoothly not really gotten the chance to eat myself. I don't reckon they would forget to feed him, you're deadset right about that., but you can forget to eat properly yourself…

Quite annoyed that people think Benji made a mistake in being out after 3am. I thouggt we lived in a free society where people can come and go as they please.

Putting blame on Benji suggests these idiots dont deserve the blame.

I hope this guys gets his just deserts and his name is published in the media.

The highest profile player in the NRL would be in demand at a function like this. Add that to his hosting duties and not eating is a distinct possibility. Ever been flat out at work and the afternoon comes and realise you missed lunch. Happens all the time.

I wonder of this racist numbskull is silly enough to go on 'A current Affair' or 'Today tonight', telling some sob story. It will give all the Kiwis in Sydney a chance to get a good look at him, then a fat lip is going to be the least of his problems!

Front Page of Telegraph tommorrow should be huge photo of the person that allegedly racially abused Benji with the headline OUR UGLY CITY.

I completely agree with you Snake. The Daily Telegraph make significant amounts of money from the NRL and its "face of the game" and should also be protecting their single biggest revenue generater.

It will never happen but the Tele should support our game.

Agree 100%. This person should be named and shamed with photo in the press so that his friends, family and co-workers can see what a low dog he is to racially abuse someone.

The Tigers (all players, officials and coaches) should bar the Daily Telegraph untill they take such action.

Who cares if he is out at 3am. It's not like we had a game yesterday.

If it was a match day fair enough, but otherwise what's the big deal?

On the 2ky sunday sports show with Zorba and Hartley a girl rang in and said she was at Maccas at the time of the incident - said her boyfriend who follows Brisbane told her she should ring and say whta she saw - according to her Benji was with his GF and a couple of other people, she said Benji did not appear drunk and to the contrary spent most of the time in Maccas signing autographs and allowing people to have pics taken with him - she said he was a thorough gentleman throughout and had even shaken the hand of some of the group who later approached - she said the party with Benji had to wait outside for him when leaving as Benji continued to have pics taken - Benji joined them and they began to walk down the street - the group involved in the incident followed and she siad she heard one yelling something at Benjis party but couldn't make out what it was - this happened a couple of times and eventually Benji turned around walked no more than 5 mtrs and apparently threw the punch - other groups had left Maccas milled around - about 30 or 40 people and that was it - lasted no more than 10 seconds and Benjis group continued on their way - she said no one was knocked down, there was no scuffle and she didn't even think anyone had been injured.
Zorba asked if she would relay to Police if asked and she said yes.

This is looking more and more like a Telecrap beat up.

If this is correct surprised no one in Benji's group grabbed him when he turned around .Suppose it was so out of character they did not see that about to happen .

Benji did the right thing - Some Old school sortin.

The other party must ev expected him to just walk away.

Well done Benji

We need to get scum like this off the street!! What a better way to send a message then for the NRL to say Benji was vindicated in smacking this douchebag.

Lets see how many more incidents occur then.

Go the other way, and these blokes will have even more of a license to abuse people than they do now.
