Benji Marshall - Mega Thread

What we need to do is the same as brisbane done to wally lewis GET RID OF HIM, they made the hard decision to sack lewis and it paid off , now its our clubs turn to make the hard choice .

**Wests not hollering for a Marshall - The Lurker!**
I keep hearing struggling superstar Benji Marshall is unhappy at the Wests Tigers and hasn’t gelled with new coach Mick Potter. Marshall's shock relegation to the bench for Friday night's clash with Souths only adds to the talk of unrest. Sources suggest he would even consider switching clubs – but only if it’s a Sydney based team. Trouble is, Benji is on $600,000-a-season at the club and not a lot of clubs would pay that sort of money considering his recent form. Maybe Parramatta coach Ricky Stuart will step in to solve his five-eighth issues at the Eels.

Its becoming clearer and clearer everyday that Farah is the real WT's legend the way he carries himself both on and off the field

Benji isn't being given preferential treatment anymore so he runs off sulking. Please leave.

That is what it looks like from the outside looking in,simple really for Benji, play well and all this talk goes away.

I think Potter and the coaching team are more of a problem than Marshall. Marshall's playing terrible, yes, but who's playing good? Apart from Farah and Woods, the whole team has been horrible. We also look unfit.

Even at the start of the season when we had no injuries, we looked terrible in attack. We looked much better under Sheens (and I am not a fan of Sheens at all).

I think the problem lies with the fact that Potter is out of his depth and doesn't make good decisions. Replacing Marshall is one thing, but replacing him with Fulton is lunacy. Fulton is a fringe first grade second rower, he's nowhere near a first grade 5/8.

The answer for Benji and the Tigers is a simple one… GET A DECENT HALF BACK inside Benji

Carney plays outside a dud hlaf back in Robson…yet Carney still plays great.

Thurston has played without a regular halves partner for years...yet still plays great.

Benji.........the difference is, Benji has no footy IQ. He doesnt need a 7, he needs to learn how to control a game and read a game. Unfortunately, after 11 seasons, he still hasnt worked itout.

I agree with the decision. He needs to know he's replaceable if not performing up to standards. As for Fulton there to stop Sutton, it just doesn't work like that. They'll very rarely oppose each other, and really, Sutton is just a setup man for the "real" star of their side, GI…and Fulton has no hope of stopping him.

I would take with a grain of salt anything that is written about Benji at present.A lot of two bob jurnos will write anything if they think it will get a audience.

Iam sure he is not happy being benched and not enjoying playing in a team that is going through hard times but till I read a article that he puts his name to or the club puts their name to,I will discard the article as fluff

Totally agree with the Thurston side of your argument. But from what i hear (all my friends are cronulla fans) that Robson is very solid and a half that the style of benji and carney would thrive on. He is the type of player that gets drop-outs, has a decent close kicking game and passes the ball when carney puts his hand up..

He is a halfback that makes carneys game, we need someone of the same style just not as old.

My opinion not having a go at you

Agree. While his form is rubbish at the moment, the media will look for any opportunity to try and stir things up to get the reaction they desire.

Robson is no dud. He directs the team around the field and let's Carney chime in and out. He is exactly what Marshall has always needed. I keep saying it, 2005,10,11\. All years we had an organizing half. The result speaks for itself

I know a lot gets thrown around when we're losing but its hard to believe there wouldn't be some kind of truth to it. Maybe not to the extent that he wants out but it isn't totally unrealistic that he's had a bit of a sulk. These guys are human, not robots so when you're losing emotions are bound to flare. Wouldn't surprise me if his nose was out of joint cos its something Sheens never would have done even if Benji ran over his dog. He wouldn't be use to this kind of treatment.

We had a decent HB and the team was building and growing nicely. Sadly he behaved poorly off the field twice and the club did the right thing and let him go. Good HB's don't grow on trees and it is taking us a while to replace or develop another one. We have 2 potential superstars coming through the ranks and in the meantime we have to be patient.

All the hysterics on here at the thought of us getting the spoon is entertaining however and is distracting from the goings on on the field. Seriously, Benji is the Tigers and his form will return. If you are willing to read and believe a couple of lines from a no-mark drop kick that writes a blog and tweets to get attention then you have very empty lives.

Here's a good video with Phil Gould's take on Benji Marshall right now. He offers a different perspective altogether. You want the first 3-4mins of it. - http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/the-phil-gould-show-20130515-2jlxk.html

Oh and just as a side note, as brilliant as Carney and Thurston are neither have taken their sides to a winning GF, and before you come back with 2004 Thurston with the Dogs does not count he had minimal impact in that team. Neither will win anything with their current teams either..if you honestly believe the Sharks and Cowboys will win anything you are seriously deluded.
