Benji Marshall will leave Dragons if another NRL club meets his asking price

Just finished watching Benji nullify all the dragons attack. He isn't worth $50 on that dismal performance.

Poor dragons.

I don't know which game you were watching, but Benji WAS the Dragons attack!

I thought he had a OK game, made a couple of good tackles,IMO he just doesn't seem to gel with Widdop in attack, they seem to be on completely different wavelengths at this stage of the season.
Anyway his best years are behind him, nothing but trouble if he comes back to the Tiges.

Benji should have a crack at SL. He wasn't much chop at Rugby , SL would be a better fit for him at this stage of his career. He still has something to offer there.

I agree. Considering that Chris Sandow has been tearing it up over there Benji should go great guns.

Can't see any value in going back to the future with Benji ESL is probably his best option although I heard him say when interviewed that he would rather stay in Sydney, what about Newcastle could be a possibility?

Benji is married Nuff said no ESL.

His contract negotiations are like a reverse auction. His price goes down with each game, and sure that he could no longer consider 300k an insult. I would suggest his best options might be ESL or a move into the media. I wonder if Bellamy would consider him should Cronk moves on

Tim …his Misses... is retiring so I don't see why ESL is out...

I have always had the belief that when a player leaves the club and plays a number of seasons elsewhere, that said player is no longer "ours".
All I see is Benji in a St George jumper. He's a Saints player.

Ok the highlights reel shows him in our colours meh
John O'Neil - Manly not Souths
Ken Irvine - Manly not Norths
Ron Coote - Easts not Souths
The list goes on.
He walked out … Keep walking

He basically came out and said he was uninterested, unfit and unmotivated during the last year or so a the Tigers, and now he is willing to come back if the price is right.

Sorry Benji but if I were you I would be jumping at what ever the Dragons offer because I can not see you getting flooded with offers or even a offer from within the NRL

I dont want Benji Back.

He admitted to not caring about us when he was here last time and has shown no reason why he deserves a dollar of our PLAYING salary.

Perhaps in a marketing capacity and then only perhaps…

I was. However I am pragmatic and fiercely loyal and make no apologies for looking forward.

I was hurt by the admission that he no longer had the passion for the tigers in final period of his tenure. Players need to know that they are privileged to play NRL and should remember the fans like us who are so dedicated to clubs like our Tigers.

The Tigers arent a retirement home or a charity.

Fair enough mate, didn't mean to come across as questioning your integrity at all.

A Benji comeback?
>
The weeks tick by and still, St George Illawarra star Benji Marshall remains without a contract for 2017.
>
But could he be set for a swansong at the Wests Tigers?
>
In what would prove a romantic end to his career, it's understood Marshall's management has contacted the Tigers to plant the seed of a return to the black and orange.
>
It was suggested by Team Benji that should the Tigers be unable to re-sign young halves Luke Brooks or Mitchell Moses, he would be interested in filling the void while also receiving the farewell he never properly received.

LOL

2013 -> Rejects $700k, thinks he's worth more.
2014 -> Goes to Blues (Super Rugby) for less money.
2014 (again) -> Union gamble fails, finds a home at St George Illawara, again, for less money.
2016 -> Gets an offer of $300k from the Dragons, rejects it thinking he's worth more. Dragons take the contract away, now he's regretting it.

Big series of failures there from Benji.

As much as I love what he did for our club he has always had an over inflated ego

Gotta love his management. They have been costing him heaps ever since he left the Tigers. Well done, Brian Taber. Next time I need a salary cut, I'll give you the job to negotiate it!

Marshall is no longer managed by Tauber.

That is interesting. I wonder if Benji lost it and sacked Tauber after realising how much money he lost. Still he keeps doing the same thing again and again.
