Not sure why - he has a problem in defence - he can fix it! He certainly isn't our biggest problem - but look closely and you will see him turn in when the others push out at times. IT shouws a lock of confidence in his inside man - maybe it's warranted?Galvin is a problem. Stopped reading at that juncture of the post..
If Galvin turns in, his outside men need to follow him. That’s how a defensive system works. Another issue in a long line of issues in our outside backs. Not sure why - he has a problem in defence - he can fix it! I get it. In attack when I look.at him closely - every time he touches the ball it feels like my soul lights up.. in defence he is 18.years old.Not sure why - he has a problem in defence - he can fix it! Youu nailed it!I get it. In attack when I look.at him closely - every time he touches the ball it feels like my soul lights up.. in defence he is 18.years old.
Except he turns in on his inside man who has the player already covered on his outide shoulder and his outside man has already turned out because of that. He needs to learn to trust his inside and follow the structure. He doesn't do it consistently but Melbourne carved us up twice because of it and would have a third time if not for an errant pass.If Galvin turns in, his outside men need to follow him. I nailed nothing. I am nobody.. Thsnks anyway. I am you You are me.Youu nailed it!
Thanks for the info. Who needs a membership? Love is free.Richo mentioned a few weeks back that Benji will be getting some experienced help shortly. That indicates we should hear something in the coming weeks.
If we are committed to Benji he needs a much improved & experienced support structure around him.
A Problem that every other team in the NRL Wants Ha Ha 🤣 😂Galvin is a problem. Stopped reading at that juncture of the post..
I’ll have to look out for it. I think defensively he’s been pretty strong all things considered.Except he turns in on his inside man who has the player already covered on his outide shoulder and his outside man has already turned out because of that. What’s it mean by back 3? The backrow?I’m a fan of studying stats that highlight successful teams. It can form the basis of correct and focused training.
Got this online but worth sharing imo !
The
5 Imortant Things to Make You Succesful
1. Kicking game, both depth and chase
2. Dangerous backline
3. Defence, both quality and quantity
4. Strong forwards, especially back 3
5. Ball control ( low errors)
3 Things That Aren’t real Important
1. Offloads
2. Dummy half runs
3. Random tackle breaks
Plenty to think about there ! Let me know your thoughts.
See how the top 5 helps focus major areas for improvement.
No no no no no no.If Galvin turns in, his outside men need to follow him. That’s how a defensive system works. Another issue in a long line of issues in our outside backs.
Still better defender than the 18 year old Brooks and Moses 10 years ago.I get it. In attack when I look.at him closely - every time he touches the ball it feels like my soul lights up.. in defence he is 18.years old.
Contact wise, yes. He has deployed a very good hook tackle technique that generally gets any runner facing him to the ground. But he is just a little bit too slow to get involved in the chase when he is beaten by a not so straight runner. Though as I said, the system should be prepared to make up for it.I’ll have to look out for it. I think defensively he’s been pretty strong all things considered.
Sam Fainu, Stef and AD seem to be having some issues when we are under pressure.
Defending isn’t one size fits all. There are occasions where you have to rush the passer and sometimes it’s better to slide. Whatever the decision is there needs to be connection with his outside men. I think Galvin makes good decisions for an 18y.o who is still filling out.No no no no no no.
If he turns in the attack has done their job on him and sold the dummy or decoy. Jolls nailed it. Comes down to communication and trust around his inside and outside men.
I think it’s also coz he backs his fitness and pace to get back in position to get his man. Did this against Hughes and he couldn’t catch back up and ended up conceding a line break.
If we start looking at what individuals are doing wrong it means the overall system isn’t working as it is exposing them.
The Hughes line break where he eventually passed to Warbrick to score was conceded exactly in that fashion.Defending isn’t one size fits all. if Galvin is turning in to tackle a player where his inside man has that player covered and leaving his man unmarked that’s a problem. I haven’t seen it often myself.
I did notice he got turned inside out on that one. Olam also got completely lost from memory. The Hughes line break where he eventually passed to Warbrick to score was conceded exactly in that fashion.
Yeah, two second rowers and the lock, that’s where your damage can be done, think Crichton,Yeoh, Martin, Radley, Murray, Carrigan, etc etc etc. What’s it mean by back 3? The backrow?
