Benji out? To be rested?

Talk about Souths have been backed in massively with rumours Benji will be rested after being knocked silly the past couple of games.

I wouldn't be surprised. He looked groggy after both hits & must be feeling the after effects

talk about the game going soft. lets put a reserve grade player on the bench in the finals (if we make it) and tell them to go knock out a player because then they won't be able to play the next week because of the rules

if this is a new rule and so serious then WHY THE HELL DID HE PLAY THE REST OF THE GAME THEN???? wouldn't that be worse playing the rest of the game then having a game off 7 days later??? what a joke

Underdogs for sure now. When was the last time we went into a game v Souths as underdogs? Might put a cheeky fiver on it.

The tests they do Golden are quite complex and isn't something you can simply do at half time or a break in play How bad a knockout is may not necessarily be what you see (the stumbling around etc)

Would rather rest him if he's not 100%. Could be a blessing in disguise, with the team firing up to prove we can win without him.

All the best to Benji if he is as unwell as reported, hope for a speedy recovery with no lasting negative effects.

I like your thinking boonboon. Lawrence to 5/8 and Ayshford gets another chance back in the starting line up. It actually makes the game interesting again.

I would assume Moltzen will be moved back into the halves as he has been training their for most of the season and the entire off season…

We aren't looking good this season with the Core - No Farah; No Miller; No Marshall; No Tedesco???

Hmmm. So Moltzen might get to play in his best position: 5/8th.

I'm sure Sheens would sooner slot in him in the front row.

All bets are off: Tigers could lose Benji too

WESTS TIGERS' two superstars have been thrust into the spotlight after bookmakers suspended betting on the club's match against South Sydney in the belief that five-eighth Benji Marshall is out injured while suspended captain Robbie Farah was involved in a heated on-air exchange with former player turned pundit Matthew Johns.

Tigers officials said Marshall trained yesterday despite consecutive head knocks, and chief executive Stephen Humphreys expects the Kiwis star to play on Sunday, but a huge betting plunge on the Rabbitohs yesterday would suggest otherwise.

TAB Sportsbet markets remained open through the plunge but the Tigers drifted from $2.20 to $2.90\. The Rabbitohs firmed from $1.70 to $1.44, with spokesman Glenn Munsie saying: ''Money is the best indicator, and it's telling us loud and clear that Marshall's not playing.''

But Humphreys said: ''News to me. As far as I'm aware he's been named and will play.''

Other bookmakers suspended betting on head-to-head markets.

The loss of Marshall would be a massive blow to the Tigers, who are facing a fourth straight defeat. The team is already without Farah, who is serving a two-match ban for a lifting tackle.

Farah clashed with Johns on NRL on Fox over claims the Tigers were soft and that he had fallen out with Marshall, with Farah later saying he had been ''ambushed''.

Lawrence to captain and 5/8 he will be the next captain and sheens likes him at 5/8 with ayshford to the centers means least disruption

That is the sensible solution…but Tim Sheens thinks like nobody else..so who knows.

One word - headgear!
We need him this week.

Head gear is proven not to stop concussion. It's purely a massive placebo. The brain literally rattles inside your head and swells against the inside of your head. All the head gear does I'd stops head cuts

sorry iron tiger i never read your reply until after i posted .

Sorry guys - was being sarcastic after a previous post to leave him out.
As far as I know the NRL wont let you play after a couple of serious head knocks unless you get a doctors ok.
Not sure if the degree of Marshalls knocks would put him in that category.

If he were to be out, i would expect Moltzen to push up into the halves, Beau or Reddy to fullback and then put Ayshford back into centre. As much as i no alot of people on here hate having Moltz in the halves, we couldnt play Humble and Chisolm in the halves, way to much inexperience to try and control the team and run plays etc

While I'm sorry to hear that Benji may be out of this match, and I hope he recovers quickly 😛ray: why not give these two "inexperienced blokes" a go, they can't put in a worse performance than our "experienced" guys have done over the past couple of rounds

Is Sheens up to his old tricks ? I seem to recall around this time last year when we were under the pump and not performing well that the coach was throwing little red herrings out to the media all over the place. I think we might start to see a more of this as the players and coach bunker down and take on an us V the world attitude. If the media want to write rubbish, they may as well feed them rubbish and at least create drama that they actually have control of the whole time. Who knows ? Will Marshall play or won't he ? They might be having a little giggle at Concord already ? Bunnies are wondering what's going on and even though they'll say it won't effect their preparation, you can't tell me it's not in the back of some of their players minds. Some ???????????????????????? for everyone. A bit of diversion perhaps, rather than talking about how poor we are playing???????????????.

Because while we may not be going to well, i dont think we at the point yet where we just play whoever, wherever and hope for the best.

I no Sheens likes the idea of Lawerence at 5/8 though he hasnt been playing all that well at centre and playing him out of position for a week could be even more unwanted disruption. Also if Benji is out, who will kick for goal (thats if we score any tries of course)

If true it's a real shame Miller is injured, a good opportunity for him and he can kick goals.
