Mind you the kiwi game plan with Luke running up the middle when the ball should be going to the halves didn't help but overall benji seemed to be really quite.. Except for those few seconds near the end…..

He was very quiet and very ineffective.
Apart from him though I thought most played well and it was a great test match.

I will defiantly admit the kiwis gave us a better run than most thought but the chances they had at our line were all blown by not using there halves passing the ball to them to kick on the fifth at the last second is not what I'd call constructive

Benji has no idea! If the kiwis had a more normal (for lack of a better word) no 6 they would of beaten us. Sideways sideways sideways and the usual terrible kicking.

He's always average in these games
Kicking for touch 20 to go and 2 points down in an attacking zone???
Kicking out on the full.
Passing to the touchys ankles.
Whats new?
Very poor.

I know that he is up against the best defence in the world but he is also getting a good platform laid by his forwards which can't always be guaranteed by the Tigers
He never seems to take the line on in Tests , which really disappoints me to be honest

With all those big mobile forwards around him it is the perfect opportunity to take the line on

His kicking was dreadful.

Good to see Sheens playing with 16 men like he does with us…what a waste.

In "these" games? Don't you mean, in about 30% to 40% of all games? That was pretty much a standard Benji game IMO. Crap kicking, poor decision making, running across field and poor outside service.

I love the kid, but he's got to be the most overrated player in the game at the moment.

Two to three great games / two to three average ones / three to four very poor games in every ten just about summarises the past few seaons.

:astonished: Gee that's a bit harsh.

But true….....

Can you honestly say he's even close to consistent? or that his kicking game isn't (very) bad most days? or that he continually makes bad very low percentage plays in the wrong situation?

I love the bloke, but can anyone seriously argue that's not all true? He's 27 and one of the most experienced halves in our game...........but he still makes the dumbest plays over and over again. He's like polar opposite of Thurston............who rarely makes the "Wow!" type play, but makes just about all of the smart plays / important decisions right.

Benji was unfortunately quiet. I thought the game was there for NZ to take if only someone could have stepped up with a couple of big plays…I was hoping Benji would spark to life but it just didn't happen. Hope he's raring to go against the Eels next week.

Some silly errors from the Kiwi's when they were on our line early in tackle counts didn't help their cause.

And yes, Benji was quiet, he was touching the ball once a set, if that and when he did touch it, he barely took the line on.

I think the Kiwi's need to stick with 1 hooker as well, not sure that the chopping and changing of Luke and Fien really help their cause.

Another good State of Origin Trial for Queensland tonight… The NZ boys laid some good platforms out there tonight, but there halves wernt up to it.

Johnstone impressed in his first game, as did Hoffman... Australia did what they had to do to win this game, so its hard to judge how close this game was.

Fire Up Marshall!!!
