I watched those clips he was an absolute legend the plays he came up with . hard to stay at that level in this game for close decade . Love to see a lot of the knockers have the kahunas to get thrown into an nrl game as a teenager and dominate ! . His last couple yrs he came down to other players levels but will never forget wat he did to our struggling club when he hit the scene

He didn't come down to other players level, he went far below it the last couple of years. As brilliant as Benji could be, for me it will always be offset by his lack of some basic skills required by an NRL footy player. He will be remembered as a club legend and rightly so, but let's not pretend he is the next immortal in waiting. Had Benji developed his game and fulfilled his potential then that would be a different story.

Hopefully everyone can finally see what I was on about for the last 4 years regarding Benji. He really handicapped us, it's alot less stressful watching us play these days thats for sure.

i was the same apart from 2010 and 11 where he actually toned his game down (like farah recently) and was a good player. but then he went back to the frustration machine….

i rarely say "i told you so" but like you Tiger, i knew the team would function better without him.

Indeed, on his day he was phenomenal and I don't mean to belittle that in any way, but Wests Tigers have well and truly moved on. In my view, what's happening now is every bit as exciting as in Marshall's heyday.

How bout you move on and not click on Benji threads… The guy is a cult hero still to many fans and will always be remembered as one of Wests Tigers greatest players.

Without this, and being left alone to concentrate on his own running game it could well have been different.

Benji was a champion, his last year was poor, but overall he was a great player for the tigers.

Even in 2012 he led the league in Try assists and Line break assists…he made too many mistakes that year, but to lead in those key stats shows he was still quality.

People like to stick the boot into the players who differ from the norm when it goes wrong and Benji fits this mould.

I wonder how many young kids started supporting the tigers because of Benji.....lots I reckon!

I would take him back on a 1 year deal at the right price. Imagine what Benj could do with a gun halfback beside him. He would only have to concentrate on his own game and not kick so much. He still would terrorise defenders moving back toward their line. He could always read the game so well, just execution was poor sometimes. Before anyone jumps on me, I understand about salary cap issues and I'm sure brooksy and moses took a fair chunk of benji's wage but I can always dream about how good it would be to have benj, the new prince(brooks), faff and hodgo(teddy) running around again
