Benji

There's a great photo behind the bar at the orange grove up the hill from Leichhardt oval of Benji running away from J. Thurston.

His career may not be over yet but that's how I'll remember him.

Yeah… I will always have a soft spot for Benji. That's a fitting way to remember him Raven.

Never has there been a player with his talent regress the way he has. He could have been one of the all time greats. I reckon he has his attitude to thank for that. All he cared about in the last few yrs here was playing with his mates. Even admitted to being in tears when Ryan and Heigno told him they were leaving. He's never conducted himself as a professional, and that is why he's finished his career languishing in mediocrity instead of being in the same class as Thurston. Damn shame.

i wouldn't want to speculate on his decline but have to agree that he could have been an all time great.

over a career he's shown he can pass, step, run, kick with the best of them - its only really consistency that he's failed at

Benji was assessed as having had a good season in 2015\. He engineered many tries for his team mates, and even scored a couple himself. McGregor favored the 'left half/ right half' structure in an era when most teams just have one organizing half. St George made the playoffs. Not a bad year.

Now he is experiencing recurrent hamstring problems. Not a good sign and not much you can do about it but wait. This is a result of age, it doesn't constitute poor form. The folks over at the Dragons will be hoping that he'll recover soon and get back to the business of try-assists. Of course he isn't as fast as he was ten years ago, no-one is.

I still don't get the attitude that Benji gets from a number of you on here. Like you resent having to admit that he was once the greatest player in the league, winner of the Golden Boot etc. He will always be one of my all-time favourite players, and I hope he does well whoever he plays with now and in the future.

Tele this morning Tigers to make offer to Marshall if Brookes or Moses leaves ..one other club interested. O'Neill certainly has the boys club network working overtime , Littlejohn moving forward in the short term would be my go ..the Tigers never a dull moment ,a club that never moves forward .

And defence. And constantly kicking balls out on the full from kickoffs or general play. And constantly not finding touch from penalties. And throwing passes into the spectators on the hill. And playing for himself when a team- orientated play was the intelligent way to go. And the sometimes over-the-top ego.
Loved Benji when he was with WT- on his day he was exhilarating to watch. Lost a lot of respect for him after his pathetic parading around in his union jumper while he was still with us.
Didn't have all the skills and smarts necessary to be an all-time great, but was always exciting to watch for his style of play whether breathtakingly good or frustratingly bad.

The one game Littlejohn played in first grade this year was great. He really looks to be an NRL level half. He's been consistent in ISP too.

Still waiting for Brookes to show the form that big money will be well spent in the future. cant we bring a cheap Tommy Bishop out, we used to pick up great Poms

Fairdinkum, if this is the path we head down, then we really deserve every loss that comes our way. Given the talent we have currently, there is absolutely no sense in digging up the graves of the dead ex-stars. Maybe we should ask Sirros dad to pull on a jumper again as well to show the boys how it's done.

Sirro snr would have more heart and more pride than all of our current blokes put together.

I think you can exclude Farah (if not a few more as well) out of the equation. He may be around a year too long for some people but still performs quite decently in every area of the game - and many fans and non fans reckon he still should be capt.

Just want to go on record as one that says he shouldn't.

You really don't need to defend him against every negative post - they are only opinions.
