Benji

He said in the post match presser that "I didn't get involved enough"…......do I need to say anymore? Yes i do....you idiot Benji, your getting involved too much. He just doesn't not get it.

And he never will get it, the media have got to tell it how it is, tell the world Benji is out of his depth and dragging the club down

When one of our players was in the bin for ten, and Benji kicks to the sideline to result a scrum, but it goes dead in goal… those of the sort of things which he was applauded for getting right vs Storm, but are now what he is getting wrong,

He deserved the praise, but now needs to accept the criticism. He's had a few games now, and needs to step down. If our hooking stocks weren't so severely malnourished I'd be looking there for a solution 5/8 until Reynolds, (if Gamble's not ready), but there's on love there either.

Ego is a terrible thing isn't it.

It's been 4 or 5 weeks he had been horrible. We could quite possibly win our last 3 if he doesn't play, that says it all. Not saying we do win the past 3, but we are a big chance without his costly crap.

This is Ivan's first big test of 2018\. I have no doubt Benji will be in the 6 next week, which makes ne not want to even watch. Hell, he was captain today, what a joke.

Ask yourself this, if Tyson Gamble is at 6 the last 3 weeks, leaving Brooks to takeover, are we a better team? 100% we are a better team with a 5/8 that will play second fiddle and do what's needed when its needed. A 5/8 who over plays his hand is the most detrimental thing we could have.

Benji has to go. But no, he'll be captain. The media will tell him how good he's going. Brooks will say how good he is for him….its embarrassing this media joke that is Benji Marshall.

I stated this week Benji should stay with Ivan giving him a talking too. Well, that's now no good, it's about finding team players Ivan.

Could not have said it ANY better….......

The trouble is Benji has no targets so he goes for the 100 to 1 plays. We have a side with zero speed and no punch. Okay agreed Benji was terrible, but it was because he was trying to pull a rabbit out of hat, we have zero attack outside maybe Brooks

Interesting. I don’t argue that his form has been poor lately but do we drop him for the Leichhardt game next week? His return to Leichhardt. I think our pack & Brooks has the form to take us to the finals. Hopefully Reynolds will be back soon, Benji back to the bench.

Names and venues shouldn't have a say when it comes to picking the best available team. You said it - his from has been poor lately, in other words, for several weeks. We can't afford to be charitable if we want to win games. He has to be dropped. Also, sorry, can't agree with the 'pack has the form' comment either. Our pack hasn't shown form for four weeks as we've been beaten in the ruck every time.

Packer seems to be a remarkable recruitment…..should be back soon..... 😛ray:

He has stopped putting his body on the line and now is the side to side looking for an offload so he does not get tackled.

This. It is putting too much pressure on his outside men by taking away all their space. The ridiculous early tackle kicks these past weeks have only been making things worse and for mine, the one this week pressure put us under pressure that was the catalyst for losing Elijah early in the next half.

Whilst not the best targets, he is losing them by running them out of room by not straightening the attack.

Benji doesn't necessarily need targets , OK he mightn't be the 2005 Benji but he has to take the line on occasionally take the tackle and then let Brooks create something from that

Come on Happy, didnt you hear Supercoach. It isn't benji's fault he kicks on the first tackle for 2 forwards, it's not his fault he kicks on the 3rd after 10 minutes without us having the ball giving the opposition a first tackle on their 30 metre line, it's not his fault he runs and drops the ball, it's not his fault he takes the ball off Brooks more then he should, it's not his fault he grubbers into opposition legs constantly, it's not his fault he makes poor decisions in defence, it's not his fault he concedes 7 tackle sets….....its all because he has no targets. Its Thompsons, Marsters, Kevs, Fonuas and Nofos fault Benji is the worst player we have ever had... (also the best. He will be the only player to ever be named both best and worst ever player for a club)

Yep his total 12 running metres sort of shows his failure to take on the line…..

My point is Benji needs to play a secondary role that suits the team KS …...

He would become more dangerous if he varied his game more

Don't worry I'm not making excuses for Benji , I was the one who was the big negative nelly when we originally signed him (yes CB I'm looking at you  )

Problem is Gamble isn't the answer from the comments I've seen

Lolohea is my short term answer when fit , don't care what others think , at least he will take the line on

Sounds like Reynolds is a fair way away from his comments on 360

SC is a genius like myself KS :nerd:

I have been saying it for a while now - he needs a break to clear his head. At the start of the season he was great - for 3 games. From game 4 onward he has been on a downward spiral and I don't see that changing.
He needs to warm the bench for 50 or 60 minutes, see how the game is unfolding and what he needs to do to control the game, shut the game down or add some spark.
It just seems he is always just 3 headlines away from going from great to awful.

I see your point Yeti , but would Benji then think he had only 20 minutes to create a miracle play and still overplay his hand ??
