Benji?

wondering what people think of this option as a 5/8 for next year. when you put it in perspective

foran, cronk, whiddop, reynolds are all gonna cost us beteeen $700k - 1.2mill per year. or we could consider the benji option for 1-2 years and pay him maybe 300 (i think his on minimum contract at brisbane). is this seriously the worst option? we dont need two halves on a bulkload of money and it means we can direct money to every other possible position where we seem to be short on

and i disagree with anyone that sais its a step backwards

As per google:

backwards
ˈbakwədz
adverb
1.
(of a movement) in the direction of one's back.
"Penny glanced backwards"
synonyms: towards the rear, rearwards, backward, behind one
"Penny glanced backwards"
\
\
2.
**(of an object's motion) back towards the starting point.**
"re-hiring Benji Marshall is going backwards"

I'd consider him in a coaching role, definitely not onfield

Yes, it's the worst option. Marshall is 6 years past his best. Yet nothing would surprise me at the WT.

he can be solid and goal kick. we have brooks and i dont think you need 2 dominant playmakers.

think of it this way. how would you rather spend 1 million

option a:
Shaun Johnson (1 million per season)

option b:
benji (300k) , matulino (400-500k) and MWZ (200-300k).

what would you rather?

only watched his one game last season against WT and he was a goer, and didn't he pick up second best about 2 seasons ago? If he is not preventing a better person up and coming then why not.

Intersting some thoughts not long ago he came 2nd in Dally M of the year.

Whilst their are better options its a no for me.
Widdop, Johnson, Foran, Reynolds, Maloney etc all rank infront

I think that statement is a bit out of context, we can afford Matulino and MWZ whilst spending 800k+ on a halfback

ok but we may be able to but even still its a 500k difference you could put to another player etc so the argument woudl still be valid. its benji and 1-2 players or whiddop sorta thing

Why the hell would anyone pay 200-300K per season for MWZ?

This would be, without doubt, the worst decision EVER by the club if they were to go down that path.

And that's saying something.

No sorry, he lost his attacking mojo some time ago and there are better options available.
