Bennett the supercoach

No one is denying Bennett has done enormous things for QLD rugby league and primarily the broncos but there's no hiding the fact that he has been blessed with what he's at at his disposal.

And anyone wanting kisses, please huh, no tongue.

Bennett can obviously coach.

But I believe that he has all the advantages. It could be argued that Brisbane has underperformed over the 30ish years they have been in the comp given the advantages they have.

Ive never been convinced he is significantly better than other coaches.

Hasler for me is a bloke who has proven with various cattle of various ability that he can continually find away to get them towards the top. This year and last I ve looked the the Dogs sqaud and thought they would struggle, and he gets them top 5 still.

yep hasler would be the only "supercoach" who doesn't have an asterisk next to his coaching career. bellamy with his salary cap and bennet with his unfair brisbane advantage.

robinson seems like a bloke who would or could get close to them. however, his second stint has to be moderately successful after roosters.

Tim Sheens?

3 premierships over the cap. 2005 legitimised his coaching career.

Unca Wayne only had 6 Internationals a couple of Jnr kiwi's and Jnr Roos at his disposal..At least Darius was in his box…

I think Bennett is a superb man manager - and it seems his players really want to play for him.
However, even he has said many times, it doesn't matter how good you are as a coach, there's simply nothing you can do if you ain't got the 'cattle'.

Were they over in 1994?

I thought they were for all three premierships?

I think his capabilities as a man manager are greatly exaggerated.

He has a string of disgruntled former players and associates in his wake.

A lot have been reluctant to speak up due to the influence Bennett wields, others lambasted for doing so.
In recent times we are starting to see a bit of ill will show openly. (Wally and Gordie most notably)

Bennett is ruthless, and needs to be right to point of being vindictive.

I know many a story, but wont share as they are not mine to do so, Watto can probably share a number as well.

No chief….Bennett was coach and tinkler was not supposed to be paying the bills...whatever I say you will disagree with anyway...and i'm cool with that because I don't rate your opinion at all

There was no salary cap in 1989, by 1994 the Raiders had to lose a heap of players like Lazarus, Todd, Gaffey etc, however it wouldn't surprise me if there was a trade in brown paper bags, BTW Martin Bella lost the game for the Dogs from the kick off, that's why we see either the half or 5/8 fielding the ball before passing.

Jack Gibson only used to stay at a club for 3yrs…he ran out on Newtown, easts, parra, cronulla that I can think of

He only stayed at Newton for 1 season despite winning the Pre-Season Comp, the Club Championship and making the Final with the Jets, he bailed out after 1 season because there was no money, just like his stint at the Sharks, he wasn't a miracle worker there despite having ET, McGaw & Miller etc.
Jack after realising his time was up at the Sharks came up with immortal line, 'waiting for the Sharks to win a Premiership is like leaving the porch light on for Harold Holt'.

I feel for Mr Bennett  Origin is such a distraction

Leuluai & Johnson outplayed Milford & Hunt..

Does it shed some light on our win last week???? They were terrible, Hunt and Milford have gone right off the boil and Roberts is turning out a real dud buy. Always love to see the donkeys get a touch up

He was at the Sharks for 3 years 85,86 and 87

AND how right was he, nearly 30 years later and the porch light is still on.

Glad I'm not paying the electricity bill.
