Bennett...The Traitor..

Bennett has given more to RL than most I can think of.

The game has given plenty to Wayne as well.

He is definitely no philanthropist, in fact quite the opposite.

Who cares if there are ulterior motives?

He gets paid, the international game will only improve as a result. I can't stand to watch Australia throttle every team by a cricket score.

Like Twmba Tigerman said, I would've liked him to coach one of the emerging nations instead. But as for chasing the big $$ I don't blame him.
He has two terribly disabled children to look after and is making
sure they're set for life. Like any good parent would do.

He has made a monster $$$ out of the game don't worry about that and would have invested it accordingly.

To me this smells Greed I'm sorry…...he lived away from his Family when Coaching Newcastle and Dragons, when is he going to dedicate the Family time his Kids deserve with there disabilities they have, his Wife must be very tolerant.

No doubt he's entitled to maximise his earnings not saying that at all......but I think his Family could do with him being at home during the NRL offseason instead of being in England.
I'm sure he would be on close to $1 million per year at the Broncos as it is.

Anyway where all different some just value the Family more than money.

I've had opportunities to earn a lot more.....but it entailed being away from the Family going interstate weeks on in at a time, but i'm not willing to sacrifice the time and missing big chunks of my kids lives for that extra money.
I'm more than content how things are and I'm not on anywhere near what Bennett's on.
" Each to there own as they say " good luck to him i don't wish him anything bad.

Who are you to judge how his family life

My opinion and free to do so , didn't claim to be be right…..ummm that's what a Forum is

As I am free to give mine. And in this instance judging him on how he is with his family is loaded with ignorance and pettiness.

Your obviously not a Father and to Dopey to understand the importance of a Father being around the Family Especially when your kids have disabilities .
Wayne said it himself that his family stayed in Brisbane when Coaching in Sydney .

In 25 years of Coaching at the Elite level you think he hasn't made enough money to set his Family up to have to Coach England in the Off Season  .

Yeah i can see Wayne with his hand over his Heart singing " God save the Queen " and hobbo with a sign from the Grandstand " Master Wayne "

Before you continue your ignorant verbal diarrhoea rant and start generalising, I actually have a disability myself and have worked with the disabled for a living. I know exactly what it takes. You have no idea about his family and what has been put in place for his family. It just comes across as another excuse to have a dig at a guy who is already an easy target.

You haven't attacked anyone over the year's ? get a grip of yourself , no one's belittled more Forumers than you.

With my Profession i see it aswell …...that's why i know how important it is for his kids needing his Father .

So you think if there was no money involved for him being the Coach of England he would do it ? Of course not.

What a ridiculous argument. Of course he probably wouldn't do the job for free. Would you do a job for nothing, no less than as a coach of a national football team? Most people in this day and age receive a salary for their occupation. Are we chastising him for not doing volunteer work now?

   BINGO . Greed is the answer

Wayne Bennett offered to coach Australia for $50000, but they said he was ineligible because he was a club coach, so they signed Mal for $300000, not Bennetts fault.

what do you think about all those aussies who represent other countries like samoa, png, england etc.?

That's different, it's ok when we do it. I get a laugh out of when we give it to England for half their team being South Africans. Hell, we're the kings of adopted athletes. Our greatest ever boxer is Russian for crying out loud.

Unca Wayne won't make an iota of difference to the improvement of the Pommy Test team, they don't have the cattle that is anywhere near the standard of the Aus and NZ Test sides.
And when Unca Wayne doesn't have a plethora of elite players to work with he may just throw the towel in with the old 'I had lost the players' throwaway line like he did when he bailed out on Newcastle after a pitiful season.

At international level I don't think a coach has that much impact anyway. If players at that level need to be told how to play they shouldn't be there.

i was asking FT if he reckons players like sue/simona who play for samoa do it for greed too.

Wow sticking the boot into the bloke for chasing the dollars, particularly with disabled kids.

How many of you have taken job opportunities worth more money to provide?

Moreover it makes the international game stronger and less of a laughing stock. The Rugby League World Cup might actually mean something if the Poms and NZ routinely challenge the Aussies.

If he resurrects the Poms, I'd like to see him mentor the Kumuls, Samoa or Tonga.

Lol, I agree CB… The game needs more Wayne Bennett clones. Definitely.

I dont know about that.

Wayne is a terrific coach (who I think has been assisted by circumstances, but hey, that is life) but he is not the messiah, like most of us he has his share of vices and he wouldnt be who Id like to model myself on.
He also has some good points.

Look I don't have a hard on for Bennett, I just can't see how him assisting England would hurt the international game. If he's getting paid good money to do so who cares? The ends justify the means in professional sport, well at least in this case IMO.

Share of vices Goose? What are you getting at there?
